Hi Steven, first of all I really appreciate your great work.

I'm using Musicbee for a few years now, different versions. My only two problems (maybe connected) are:

1. Sometimes when a new song starts, it would play for 1-2 seconds, then there'd be a short click-noise and the song starts over. Then it plays without problems. Skipping back and forth doesn't reproduce the behaviour.

2. Sometimes a song plays but the last seconds are skipped and the next song begins to play.

There are no errors in the error log.

I'm on Win10, but with Win7 it was all the same.
I've recently updated to 3.1.6590 and the problems are the same.
I'm using a normal selection with tags as playlist, no Auto-DJ.
The options for silence-removal oder blending from one song to the next are switched off.
I've no special plugins installed, just the plain program.

Do you have an idea?

I have the exact same probleme, since i updated to 3.1.6590.
Before everything worked fine. Did not change anything.
I'm on Win 10 v1703 Build 15063.877.
Also silence removal is turned off and no Auto-DJ.
Plugins are not installed.

I was playing League of Legends, when i noticed the problem. Since i'm back to desktop, i have no problems so far.
EDIT: Tested on desktop for some time and it also happens here. So basicly everywhere.
Never change a running system. why did i update musicbee?  :'( It'd said "fixed some bugs"...

Benny did you find a solution? Since we get no reply, i have no clue what to do.
I can't revert the update and i don't want to reinstall, because i don't know what settings are saved  :(

I don't know what may be causing the problem you guys are having, but before going through a reinstall I would think you would have nothing to lose by trying another update, this time to the latest 3.2 version patch.  This can be downloaded here:

http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V3_2/MusicBee32_Patched.zip

Unzip and extract ALL the files inside to your MusicBee folder, overwriting the existing ones.

The new update did not help.
Here is a screenshot:

Tried to uncheck:
-dynamically normalise volume of streams
-normalise volume of tracks with replay gain tags
That did not help too

Does the issue still occur if you uncheck upmix stereo to 5.1?

Both of you are using DirectSound. That leads me to believe there may be another application causing issues. Have either of you attempted to adjust the settings for your audio playback devices? Does the same issue occur using WASAPI?

If I may try a long shot--does the problem involve M4A/AAC files in any combination?  If so, and you haven't done so already, try downloading the latest bass_aac.dll at the un4seen site (http://www.un4seen.com/download.php?z/2/bass_aac24) and placing it in the MusicBee folder which will cause MB to not default to the Windows-supplied decoder that sometimes has issues with these files.  I have a feeling though that CritterMan's suggestions will lead you to the culprit.

I think this is the same issue I am experiencing although slightly different behaviour. For me it is at the beginning of the song it stops and starts and then a few times during playback does the same thing. No changes or new installs and I didn't fiddle with any settings on MusicBee or system

I have some m4a files in my playlist and the bass_aac.dll was completly missing in my MB directory. I will try and test tomorrow. This sounds like a good tip for me  :)
Is WASAPI better than Direct Sound in generell and should be used as default?
Nevermind  ;D WASAPI is more for testing. Since it is exclusive mode, i can't use it for daily bases.

Tested it today and sadly the bug still randomly apears.
I really did change NOTHING in my settings. No driverupdates, windows updates, had no new programm installed or uninstalled.
Everything was 100% the same before and after the MB-update. And then the bug started apearing  :( So i'm 99,9% sure the update messed something up.
I will try and install the patched versions everytime they arrive. If nothing changes, i have to reinstall :/

I just have got the same bug again. Inspite of WASAPI. Furthermore I've got no m4a- or aac-files.

the only suggestion i have is to add musicbee to the exceptions in your security software as there have been cases where the security software has been intefering with musicbee, especially if you use Avast/ AVG
