Artwork to fit window

In the now playing tab the artwork needs the option to fit window so the whole image is displayed and I don't mean cropping or stretching just keep image's aspect ratio but fit display area.

i am curious what technique would be used to make an image fit an area without cropping or stretching - please let me know!

Just to add I don't mean the whole window needs to be filled if the sides or top and bottom are blank is fine. Images are being displayed with their heads cut off or partially cut off. It needs a zoom out feature type of thing so no part of the image is cut off, how it is done I have no idea.
