Your right. Been using musicbee for years now with a large library of music. I have always installed plugins by copying them to the plugins folder. I have never noticed the 'add plugins' button. I might give the store version another go although I normaly use your beta versions. Once again thanks for a great application.

is it possible to make backups of settings or libraries of a store-version of MusicBee?

the library backup aspect should work fine. Even the settings backup would probably work, but it wont be easy for you to figure out the hidden windows folders that windows uses for store applications if you need to restore the settings

Congratulations Steven for the long awaited store release! Does this mean MusicBee will be able to integrate Windows 10 color schemes?

The store version is more or less the same as the desktop version - i did need to make a few tweaks because it requires a newer .NET version and infact there is a minor GUI bug on the store version for some dialog windows for some skins.
There are reasons people may want to use the store version - clean install/ uninstall, auto-update, trusted environment etc.
If you prefer using the beta version and more recent patch versions then you should continue to use the version from the musicbee website.

I guess since you are aware of this GUI bug I don't need to report it, of the skins I tested it only affected an xml skin.

the GUI bug i was referring to should already have been fixed in 3.1.30, so if you tried that version can you let me know what the bug you encountered was

I just installed the store version yesterday, and with my flat xml skin some dialog windows like preferences have a blank space at the top and cropped off on the side.

thanks for letting me know. That also should be fixed for the next store update but it might be a while off

Sorted all my plugins now with the store version. But I noticed that in the thumbnail browser you can't paste artwork over the default ones as it comes up with 'invalid picture'

If I wanted to use the custom icons people have posted (like this amazing one: https://getmusicbee.com/addons/misc/69/music-note-icon/) is there any way to do it with the store version?

Or should I revert to stand alone version for icon support?

If I uninstall the store version and then install a stand alone version, will I lose my settings / library etc?

Guys, I'm trying to find my new best Usage&Backup formula.
So until now I've used portable version at special folder. Changing computer/disk was/is just copying this special folder (there are many customisations, codecs and so on).

Lately I've found using new computer that we have Store version. I've installed thinking "Oh, after so many years central apps auto-update would be probably finally possible on this never finished and never polished enough Microsoft product - at least for one more app namely our loved MusicBee".

However from all the info on the internet it looks like it is impossible to take ownership of subfolders of WindowsApps folder to copy our files there.

So have someone figured out if it is in practice possible? If not I will revert to my earlier schema.

I'm kind of curious about how easy it is to backup and migrate to the regular version is, there seems to be something like the normal appdata folder located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\50072StevenMayall.MusicBee_kcr266et74avj\LocalCache\Roaming\MusicBee, wonder if that would work for migration using this method.

I'm not having any problems with the windows store version currently but I'm kinda worried I might need this some day..

EDIT: I did the backup thing as described here and it seems to have worked fine: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Backup_%26_Restore#Backup_Library
If you don't do this backup then all settings will be gone it seems.

Left the music and the musicbee folder in the music folder where it was, uninstalled store version of musicbee, downloaded the regular thing, started it, closed it and copied the contents of the backup folder to \AppData\Roaming\MusicBee and it worked.

can you explain some more what you mean by you cant get them to work?
In the plugins preferences tab, there is an "Add Plugin" button where you can select a .zip or .dll which MB will install
I'm using the Windows Store version, and some of my plugins aren't appearing in the popup window after clicking the "Add Plugin" button. I have verified that the plugin .dll files are copied into the correct folder...they appear there when I navigate to the folder outside of Musicbee...but they are missing when I go to install them. The specific ones I'm having trouble with are MilkDrop Visualizer, and the AirPlay plugin (out_apx-5.4) For some reason, MusicBee is not recognizing/seeing these .dll files...help? Suggestions?
