People of MB... Streaming is NOW... STREAMING using MB would be the name of the game.. DLNA etc... If MB doesn't develop DLNA, UPnP, and 4G it will fall by the wayside.... I've been using MB for about 7 years now and there is nothing close to what it can do... But you can only play it at home... it needs to be mobile... I use Plex in my truck.. I stream it to my phone ( 4G ) then blue tooth to my receiver... I works perfect... I can play my entire Library in my truck... But I want to use my MB library and playlist that I have been working on for the last 7 years... I've been using DLNA to stream to my home receiver so I can hear it thru the big speakers... but it keeps dropping out... Plex, Sonos and countless others are CHANGING THE GAME... MB jumped ahead of WinAmp and all the others... Plex,Sonos and the others are passing MB as we speak... MB can be THE PROGRAM TO HAVE...  now and in the FUTURE... If Steven isn't able to develop this plugin... maybe someone out there who love's MB like we do... would be able to help Steven out... all of us in the MB family would be forever great full... maybe even give you a title... lol ... I think this message and thread is very important for this MB community... If you agree with me... lets keep this message going and see if we can make this happen... It's for us...

Has anyone given any thought to the fact that MB is developed by one person, for free, IN HIS SPARE TIME? Steven has previously stated that he doesn't have the time to support the DLNA plugin he created. If what you're suggesting is to happen, it would probably only happen as a plugin. (Note that I'm not speaking for Steven. I'm simply repeating what he has said.)

'Yes'... I've read the threads on DLNA... and 'Yes' I did read that Steven has no time for this Plugin..If you read about 3/4 the way down.it says quote:"If Steven isn't able to develop this plugin... maybe someone out there who love's MB like we do... would be able to help Steven out.."  'Yes' it was stated as a 'Plugin' in the thread.. 'Yes' I understand Steven is working on his own time... That is why I was asking if someone would be willing to maybe help with developing the Plugin... quote  "all of us in the MB family would be forever great full... maybe even give you a title... lol ... " Your negative tone at the start of your reply  "Has anyone given any thought to the fact that MB is developed by one person" Like everyone in the MB community doesn't understand what a great job Steven has done on this incredible Music Program.. He's done a fantastic job.. He's put years into MB.. Plus you removed this thread from the General Discussions thread and placed it here in Wish list.. Yes this is a whish list plugin but also an important discussion for reading in the 'General Discussions' forum.. More people will read this in the General Discussion forum and will get more thoughts and maybe someone to help develop the plugin.. which is what we want.. someone to help us out... Streaming is Now... MusicBee is #1... let's keep it #1.. MB is the Future...

Yes, everyone using MB knows that Steven has done a great job with it. But not everyone knows that MB is a 'one man shop.'

I removed your other post (you actually posted it three times and I only removed one) because discussing the same topic in three different threads only leads to confusion and duplication. It's simply not necessary. Double-posting is generally frowned upon in just about every forum for that very reason.

And again, not speaking for Steven, but based on his previous comments, he doesn't need 'help' with the plugin, he wants someone to take it over. He simply does not have the time to deal with it. More than a year ago Steven said he'd give the plugin code to anyone who wants to maintain it and no one stepped forward. So while there appears to be some limited interest in -using- a DLNA MB, no one wants to -create- it.

No one begrudges Steven for bailing on the plugin. He has every right to manage his time and resources as he sees fit.  I, for one, am in amazement at what he has been able to achieve with MB.  There is nothing like it.

In my most frustrated moments, I've thought about putting MB DLNA up on one of those "Hire a Coder" sites and taking bids to get it working once and for all.  I don't know what the big / reputable sites of that nature are or what it would wind up costing, but maybe if people threw down it would be manageable. I don't know. It's really essential for what I want to do with MB and my library.

So add me to the "limited" list of people interested in MB DLNA use.  I wish I had the technical knowledge to do it justice on my own.  I about 60% know PHP and 20% know Python and seem to have lost my ability to comprehend new languages since I gained that limited knowledge.

Mr. Phred..... One of the three postings your speaking of was from Feb of 2015.. over 2 years ago...If a MB Community member wishes to continue a discussion on a Plugin or something else they believe would add to the MB experience.. even if he picks it up 2 1/2 years later... That's OK... It's not for you to determine if it is legitimate thread or topic... just because you feel the topic has.. quote " limited interest in -using- " .... or your just having a bad day... Keep your negative vibe out of it.. Hopefully you didn't kill the thread... End of discussion Mr. Phred... Thank you for your thoughts on the subject of MB DLNA Mr. Frankz... Yes it is amazing what Steven has created.. and the MB Community is unbelievable on how it contributes... and how a developer actually listens and implements their ideas... I've thought of "Hire a Coder" before too... Streaming is now... MB Streaming is the Future...

Phred is of course absolutely correct in stating fact that cross-posting an almost exactly identical message to different topics is considered not done, and that he takes action on it.

MusicBee is one of the more forgiving forums in this, and other aspects, thanks to the friendly and non-authoritative moderation of the likes of Phred and Psychoadept. Who also do this voluntarily, and in their free time.

That some other forum members raise the suggestion to improve on DLNA again once in a while is understandable.
Not all new users will know the history of it. (They are usually responded to with a link or reference to Stevens last statement on it.)
But you do.
You know only this year Steven let us know:
"I simply don't have the time to try and address issues. The offer for someone to take further development of this plugin is still open.."

And still you repeat (and cross post) your wish, in a thread that is clearly intended to give input and suggestions on items that Steven might find interesting to take up himself as new features.
Of course that is not some capital crime, but you might just acknowledge that by doing that, you yourself triggered a correctional response.
Maybe just accept that? And not go rubbing in the stain you created?

And also, before judging respected members such as Phred, who have been contributing and helping many, over many years now, take a look at yourself first.

You have been a member for some six years?
I can not find one post of you helping somebody else.
All you do is asking.
That's not any offense of course, and it's not required in any way, but you might think about it before pointing fingers.

And finally (yes, you may have found me (put me) in a temporarily grumpy mood):

What is wrong with your [Enter] key?
Or do you intentionally make your posts annoying to read by not using new line breaks, and a lot of silly dots between phrases?

@Jkesnk

I'm sure you must have already concidered this, but is there any way you could sync your playists/music to an Android music player App that has DLNA functionality, of which there are many on the Play Store? If only as a temporary work around, at least until your wish for a plug-in could be resolved?
Just saying :-)

Best regards

Mr. Fred Barker DIVERSITY... Thank your for your suggestion... I've mostly dealt with Windows on PC and iPhone.. I've had a couple of android tablets in the past but never really explored them much... The Android Remote app by kelsos is good... I think kelsos is doing a great job...
As far as MR. hiccup... I'm not sure how my typing skills have anything to do with DLNA and MB... What I do understand is "Hero Members" piling on other MB community members for no real reason... Your remark quote "All you do is asking" is a another example of a Hero Member piling on... because you know nothing about the financial contributions that I have made over the years... Posting three times on the same subject I feel passionate about over a 2 1/2 year period... I'm not understanding that one... Then you suggest I am questioning or don't understand the commitment of Phred and Psychoadept to the MB Community.... What you need to do MR.HICCUP is to STEP BACK.. and control yourself... Your putting a NEGATIVE mark on Hero Members thru out the MB Community with your attacks... MB Forum is by far one of the best forums out there... We can have discussion on different subjects... Try to control your rants...

Mr. Fred Barker DIVERSITY... Thanks again for your suggestion... I'll do some searching for some programs...  Streaming is Now... MB Streaming is the Future..

Your 110% right... Myself, Fred Barker DIVERSITY and yourself Frankz would like to talk about the subject at hand... toward the end of the reply to phred I said "End of discussion".. I didn't want to go down that road any more.. because it's going to kill the conversation.. Then hiccup comes in and continues the negative vibe and takes a few pokes at me..  I'm with you Frankz lets just stay on topic..
I'm with you on the "Hire a Coder".. I'd pay for one... Thanks to you and Fred Barker DIVERSITY for your inputs... I hope other members will give suggestions still...

I'm using Media Monkey music player on Android, it syncs music and playlist to the SD card from MB with no problem.
Also supports Replay Gain, Folders, AAC files and DLNA..
I'm old school, actually, I'm just old, so I'm not really into Blue-teeth and Streaming, I'm strictly a cable guy!!

Hope this helps!

I would advise against a crowdfunding approach. I believe the current UPNP plugin already works for many devices. The problem is a number of devices have their own variations on the standards and its really just a case of testing against each device and figuring out the quirks and workarounds (I am not saying there are no bugs in the plugin - there probably are). Also there is quite a lot of code involved so its not so easy for someone to pick up.

I have doubts you would be able to crowdfund someone to do that

The DLNA in MM for Android is more broken than MB's! (for chromecast at least).  MM for Android plays three songs (maybe with correct metadata) and stops. MB (with transcoding to wav for ReplayGain purposes) queues a bunch of stuff and plays it and then gets a memory leak so bad that it eventually crashes and must be "Task Manager" stopped.  I'll take that over three songs and die.

MM for Android frustrates me more than MB since I specifically paid for DLNA capabilities and they are never addressed.

I was talking about your approach. You don't get people to agree with you by attacking them for pointing out possible problems with your ideas, you get them to your side by overcoming the problems they point out with solutions. (This is coming from someone who agrees with you).
