I get the feeling this should be simple  :-\

When I click File/Library/Open Library there is one library shown (and checked): "MusicBee - C:\Users\K364\Music\

I don't want this as my library root folder. I want C:\Users\K364\Music\MP3

How do I change the location of my library?

- Have the library that you want to move active in MusicBee.
- Close MusicBee.
- Locate the library folder in it's current location.
- Move it to the new location where you want it.
- Start MusicBee
- MusicBee will tell you the library can't be located, and then you can locate it manually through the 'Locate' button on the right.

What about Preferences > Library > Move Library > Browse to new location ?
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

That could very well be a better and simpler solution. (I have never used or tried that)

Nor have I, but I'm a firm believer that if MB can move the files, let it, as it should keep track of them without the need to perform a time consuming file rescan.

I am only hoping we are not confusing library and library here.
'Library' as in all the actual music files, and 'Library' as in the index file.
I was speaking and thinking of the second.

yes - I think I was asking the wrong question.

Out of the box, MusicBee seemed to scan and list music files in C:\Users\K364\Music\  I didn't want it to do that... I just wanted C:\Users\K364\Music\MP3 and subfolders.

So, a music library in MB is the database and other settings files?

  • MB Version: 3.6.8878 P
got to Preferences> Library> monitored folders> Choose Folders
there you can deselect the main C:\Users\K364\Music folder
and just select the sub-folder C:\Users\K364\Music\MP3

Bee-liever, I think that's where my confusion started because that was one of the first things that I tried and it didn't change anything. I just tried it again and now it worked. Thanks everyone!
