Currently playlist names disallow certain characters and long names can cause error alerts. See below. This is apparently because the playlist names are used as filenames on disc. Please lift the restrictions e.g. by using filenames that are filtered and abbreviated versions of the playlist names, but still recognisable to the user.

2 An attempt to Rename to e.g. AC/DC silently fails.

Yes - open Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer - Insert - Special symbol - Select MS Gothic font and choose any character you want and then just copy it  :)
More easier way - click Run and type charmap

And "question" only as double sign ⁇ or like this ¿ and ʔ Ɂ ‽
USe this one ∶

Using Word 2002, I get Symbol http://i.imgur.com/ZB6NjsZ.png - these characters are rejected by MB.

And Special Characters http://i.imgur.com/Q9s6Jp0.png - these characters are few.

[
font=MS Gothic]USe this one ∶[/font]

Copied and pasted from this site of Word Symbol, that one is rejected by MB Rename.

Query from MSWord http://i.imgur.com/gU9T9d1.png does not work here.

ʔ Ɂ ‽ ¿ ⁇ from your post do work here.
