G'day.

Love how customisable MB is, but one thing has me stuck.

I have my library explorer category set as album artist, and then sorted by the following virtual tag: [<Year>] <Album>.

This sorts the albums under each album artist chronilogically, just the way I like it. The problem is, when I expand an album in library explorer the tracks are listed alphabetically, with no disc or track#.

If I switch the sorting back to one of MB's preset tags such as album, the tracks now display disc and track#'s and are sorted as such. The albums gain a disc icon too.

Is there something I need to add to the virtual tag to achieve this, or is there something else I'm missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I don't think it's possible.
You could add "Album" as a second level criterion to your "virtual tag" custom sorting set. Then it will show [<Year>] <Album> / <Album> / track list. I know there's an overlap, but probably that's closest to what you want.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Surely there's a way to do this? I mean the default sort by album tag can. Is there a way to view the string or code for the preset sort by tags?

Cheers.

couldn't you add the custom sorting?
Album Artist/ [<Year>] <Album>/ Disc-Track#

I suppose I could, but then wouldn't each track expand to reveal its own track in the tree?

just looked at that again it probably would  :(

you could try Album Artist/ [<Year>] <Album>/ <Album>

or maybe another virtual tag
[track#] title
and then sort by
Album Artist/ [<Year>] <Album>/ [track#] title
