I have a weird issue and maybe someone else has seen this before. But when I load up my Library for Black Sabbath specifically For Some reason it like duplicates, but with incorrect tags. For example:

4

Do you see how the file name is Into the Void but the title of the song shows After Forever?

It's doing this for just Black Sabbath as far as I can see. And when you go to Edit the proper tags appear, but when you play the song they don't show correctly.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Looks like it's just a case of an album being tagged incorrectly at some stage.
Keep in mind that filenames are mostly irrelevant, MusicBee displays whatever is contained in the meta data tags.

Ok. Which is odd because winamp didn't do this. All songs for Black Sabbath were tagged correctly.

So is there any way to fix this? Because even when I try to edit them it still stays there. And even then when I go to edit, then save it changes nothing.

Also the meta data is correct. I would know because I have a program that let me put in a songs info and embed an album cover into the file.

The OCD in me says this is driving me nuts

I would check if the files are in read only mode, if they are MusicBee might not have access to modify them. It might also be worth examining the extended meta data tags with a tag inspector tool (personally I use mp3tag) to make sure there isn't a second set of tags that could be interfering with how they are displayed.

I am not sure the OP has specifically tried to rename the actual file names yet?
In principle MusicBee won't touch file names themselves (and that's for good reason), but if you do indeed want to change the file names, you will have to specifically do that by for example using the organizing feature.
(and you could also do it by means of the library panel if I am not mistaken?)

Done that way before, I even noticed it was happening. And I named all mp3's myself already. So it shouldn't be an issue.

Ok So When i looked in mp3tag and I think I figured out why. The 3 albums that are duplicating all have APEv2 tags set to them. How do I remove that? If I even can, cause right now it looks like it's overriding the ID3 TAGS and for some reason duplicating

In mp3tag's tags preferences, set up the read/write values as you see fit, for example; Read: ID3v1, APE / Write: ID3V1 / Remove: APE

Select all files and click "remove tag" (the red X next to the save button). In this case the ID3 tags will remain, but APE tags will be deleted.

So I removed the APE tags but it didn't fix the problem, so I just redownloaded the 3 albums that were causing problems with only ID3 tags and it fixed the issue.

For future reference, you probably needed to select the files, right click on them and click Send To File Rescan. MB doesn't automatically detect changes like that which took place in external software.
