Author Topic: .mp3 files won't open in the folders  (Read 2996 times)

MusicBee isn't opening my folder files when I select more than a few (twelve, maybe, or more) .mp3 and click "Enter". Nothing happens. When I manually select "Play files using/with MusicBee (located in the folder tabs), it just opens one file (the first) amongst the other files, not playing everything. This is bad because I can't listen to some albuns/folder playlists  by simple selecting the content. What I am doing in the meantime is selecting and draggin' the files to the music player. Help?

This is a limitation in Windows:

What causes this limitation? Why other music players (wmp, foobar) don't have this limitation?

WMP because it's the native player, Foobar may have found a workaround.  This page offers a workaround for users: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2022295

I added this to the FAQ: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Why_can.27t_I_open_more_than_15_files_from_Windows_Explorer.3F

it is true applications can work around the limitation using a shell context menu, but using the .NET framework makes it difficult for MB to do the same

I thought that context menu handlers would work with .NET?
