Allmusic tagging

It would be nice if MusicBee also had Allmusic tagging provider, they have huge database of moods and keywords. Rovi owns Allmusic, here are their API site - http://developer.rovicorp.com/

For moods, one person can write a script that extracts the song mood xml string from the allmusic's page for said song with the following regex (pretty dirty): (^.*)(?=allmusic)(.*)(?=mood)(.*)(>)(.*)(<)(.*)(<.*$)

To grab the moods, have the above regex return $5 and somehow include them in the respective album tags.

Yeah, I know I'm breaking a cardinal sin by using regex to parse html.   There must be other ways.

EDIT:  Here's a better way with regex to selecting moods from a song's allmusic page: (?<=\b(allmusic.com/mood/)).*?(?=\-)
Tip #2: If simply wants the capitalized moods in the song's AMG page, then here's the regex: Find: ^.*\b(allmusic.com/mood/).*">(.*)<\/a>.*$ Replace: \2 or $2

To be honest, AMG (now owned by Rovi), sent takedown notices to tagging software developers whose script/plugin parses the AMG pages to retrieve tag-related info (see mp3tag).  Mediamonkey dropped (or stopped developing) theirs soon thereafter.  I don't think Steven would like any additional complications in his life nor engage Rovi in any licensing negotiations; Rovi has been exploring how to monetize their acquired asset in AMG and I don't think they'll license their API for free or something approaching de minimis.  Then again, I may be completely wrong with respect to Steven's position on this topic.

Alternatively, you can try writing a websource script for mp3tag (http://help.mp3tag.de/main_online.html).  I wrote a bandcamp script in about 30-45mins: https://forums.mp3tag.de/index.php?showtopic=21070 that pulls in several fields:
Bandcamp_URL
Cover (hi-res)
Artist

Band_ID

Comments (or Description)

It is pretty bare bones, but it is readable and should have everything one needs to pull in any field from AMG.  I modeled it after a defunct AMG Script (google allmusic reddit mp3tag)

Tried that pastebin script and it didn't work, I guess allmusic have changed their source code. When I launched that script it asked me to input music style ...

I know it's illegal to mention allmusic, but is there some forum or something where people freely make these scripts and share ? Or if someone has the working script, can you please send it to me via PM.

I see there is some good improvement in mood, occasion tags, I guess last.fm have done something in this matter. (or gracenote ?)

I did a tag search for 400 songs, 86%~ were tagged. I also tried the same for 400 songs few months ago and there were barely any tags for every 4th song.. (70s 80s, 90s all genre music)


Or maybe it's because I edited the 2 allowed-tag lists in MusicBee settings. To the default ones I added allmusic tags for occasion and mood to the default ones.

I understand it isn't Musicbee, but this is the closest I've seen your feature request being incorporated anywhere (I haven't checked out what kodi does with their allmusic scraper).  You can use foobar2000 to mass tag your files with the above metadata and have them show up in Musicbee if so desired.
