- When I show tabs bar in the caption bar the panel configuration button stays white.  With the tabs bar below, it's blue. Where does that element live?
besides the ones Alumni has already posted, you also have
<element id="CaptionBar.CommandButtonOverride" bg="XXXX" fg="XXX" />
<element id="CaptionBar.CommandIconOverride" fg="XXXX" />
for the toolbar buttons and icons to match

- I have what I'm pretty sure is TabsBar.JoinLine looking as I want when the tab bar is below the caption bar, but can't find what will change that line with the tabs bar in the caption bar.
the one for caption bar line is
<element id="TabsBar.TabInCaptionBar.BorderLine" bdr="XXX" />
No wonder I couldn't figure this out for myself - I didn't have them in the XML.  Thanks.

I think I'm finished.  (How many times can I say that?) I'll look at it again with rested eyes and then post it.  Although most of it is already in the last update.

Hi phred, I enjoy this light skin of yours as a break from my usual stock Maya Blue.

I would like to darken/embolden the font of the active tab header (and the "MusicBee" in upper left corner) to match the look of the control bar's "MusicBee - Music Manager and Player" font, while changing that of the in-active tab headers to what is CURRENTLY the state of the active tabs.

Would you be kind enough to point me to the correct spots in the xml to do this edit job?  My age-ed eye-balls could use the extra contrast  :) .  If my description above is confusing I'd be happy to do some screenshots.

Ahhh ... if only lit was that simple. Well --- actually it is simple. For someone who really knows what they're doing with skins.

I've only "created" two skins and both of them were stolen borrowed ripped off from other skins. "Dem Ol' Kosmic Blues" was modified with the help of psychoadept and bee-liever. (Based on Mellon Remixed 3.5153 by psychoadept, which was based on Scamelon by Bee-liever.)

"Phred on the Lookout"  was heavily based on "Jistme on the Outlook" by hiccup nee jistme.  Lots of thanks to hiccup for his patience and guidance.  And patience. Thanks also to Bee-liever and Alumni.

So I really can't help because looking at the .xml at this point brings back no memory of what element that might be. Perhaps hiccup or psycho can assist.

EDIT: Hiccup's Sample Skin to the rescue. Perhaps. Look for <element id="TabsBar.Tab.Highlight" (line 272) and change fg and/or bdr to something that works for you. They're currently set to the same value and I don't know which one will do what you want. There's really no way to 'bold' the font. All I can suggest is a darker color.

Let me know how you make out. If I find that it helps -my- tired old eyes, I'll incorporate the change.

And I'm glad to hear you enjoy the skin.

Hey-hey-hey..  got 'er done, thanks to hiccup's sample skin, Just Color Picker, and your clue!  "Flushed with success, he finds another element to change.."  Will get back to you when my project is complete!

Great to hear! You just might morph it into something completely different.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
