Author Topic: Album Sorting, Letters Before Numbers  (Read 1999 times)

Hey Guys. Just started using Musicbee today and I'm seriously impressed with it. I'm having one issue though that I can't seem to solve and I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm a huge collector of live bootleg albums and the way I have the albums named is is date-location, for example "03/06/1971 - Dublin, Ireland". My problem is when I go to band like Led Zeppelin I have to scroll through 50 or so bootleg albums before I reach their studio albums because the albums are sorted by numbers first and then letters. How can I change the album sorting so it does letters first and then numbers while keeping the letters sorted A-Z.

Cheers!

Hi, welcome to the forum!

You've got a couple options:

1) You could enable the Sort Album tag as a custom tag in Tags (1), then fill in Sort Album values like zzz - <Album> for your bootlegs.

2) If you have them marked as bootlegs, for instance in genre or keywords, you could use a virtual tag like this:
$If(<Genre>=Bootleg,"zzz - "<Album>,<Album>)

Either way, you will need to create a custom sort order that uses the new tag for sorting.  Here are some pages that might be helpful:
