device setting to convert mp3 to m4a and flac to alac?

All my files are in either mp3 or flac format.
This weekend I'll have a friend over who wants to transfer some (well, a lot actually) music from my system to his Apple device.

I would like to setup the on-the-fly conversion settings for his device so that my mp3's will convert to m4a, and my flac's will convert to alac.
I had a look at the settings panel, but I get the impression that that can not be done at this moment?

Is this correct?

you would need to do it twice, adjusting the settings each time - once filtering for your mp3 files and once again filtering for the flac files
