I can't seem to find a simple method to sync from a playlist to a single folder on a USB player.
My PC library is organized into an Artist\Album hierarchy. The library on my USB player is organized in a single folder.

Right click a playlist> Send To > Folder(copy) > Copy files to folder:
 - Works perfectly if the folder is empty.
 - Deletes and recopies if the songs already exist
Using sync:
- creates sub-folders no matter how I try to write a template.

Can anyone point out my stupidity(hopefully) of what could/should be a straightforward process.

Do you mean you want to sync to the root directory of your device without sub-folders?
Then you could put something like "<Artist> - <Title>" in music files template without using any backslashes.
If you want to sync to a folder "M", then use "M\<Artist> - <Title>".

I'm also wondering about this
I have my music in a folder hierarchy on my computer, but I want those files to all be kept in one folder on the device when I sync to it.
Under Preferences, Devices, Settings, I have the media storage folder set to "Music\" which should tell it to put all the mp3s in the one same folder, but when I synced my device it dpulicated the entire folder hierarchy that I have on my computer on the device as well.
The reason I want less folders is my Image Gallery app lists all those music folders as folders with images in them even though I don't want it to, and I'd rather the folders not exist rather than trying to hide all these folders manually one by one in my Gallery app.
Is there a way to remedy this? Thanks in advance.

Hi SuperIchi and welcome to the forum,

I think your question has already been answered in the preceding post:
Make sure you have the naming template for music set to something like <Artist> - <Title>

Of course the possible problem here will be if you have two or more tracks with the same Artist and Title - I would expect them to be over-written.

If you can't figure this out then please post a screen shot of your device media storage settings.

Yes, you will need to provide a filename template (as well as the folder structure).

Set this template to:
Code
Music\<Artist> - <Title>
(or however you want the files named).
