Author Topic: Compilation Help Needed  (Read 4337 times)

I have sifted through the forum and tried every possible fix/guide/instruction to group tracks to compilations but to no avail, please help.

My attempts so far have been:

Turning on the 'detect itunes compilations' in the sorting and grouping preferences with 'the following fields....' checked and then turn it on in the individual tracks settings,

Changing custom tag 1 to 'compilations' and then going through each track and changing it to 1,

Changing the album artist to 'compilations' and also to the name of the album,

I have also rescaned all files after but none of these efforts have worked.

I have been trying to sort this out for a few days now and it has left me rather frustrated. Any help at all, as it seems like a simple problem, would much appreciated.

Thank you

This sounds like a sorting problem. How are albums defined under Preferences>Sorting/Grouping?

Turning on the 'detect itunes compilations' in the sorting and grouping preferences with 'the following fields....' checked and then turn it on in the individual tracks settings,

For the record, this only works if the album artist field is BLANK.

I agree with Pingaware.  Something else that might affect it, besides Sorting/Grouping preferences, is what view you're using and if you have any "group by" or grouping headers defined, and then what order you're sorting tracks by.  A screenshot of your main panel might help us here.

In the sorting and grouping preference tab the 8 boxes below sorting are all blank.

I've tried leaving the album artist field blank as well

The view is just the main player

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

ps - taken a screenshot but not sure how to load it here

Can you show us one of the compilations which isn't behaving as you'd like?

This looks correct to me.  What behavior are you expecting?

The artists to be collected in a single compilation and not in the artist column. This has to be possible??

For that you need to use Album Artist instead of Artist in the column browser.  :)
