when you try to rate a slected track in playlist(with medium artwork), the star aligns to the top, which shouldn't be the case, same for the + sign with genre.
thats fixed now - usual download link

I ran into some wonkiness last night with the Playlists.  I have many of my playlists in folders.   I was trying to create a new auto-playlist within an existing folder.  I right-clicked on the folder name, then selected New-->New Auto-Playlist.  This brought up a dialog box where I could name my new auto-playlist.  Within seconds, this dialog box disappeared before I could actually type a name, and it took me to the settings box for that new auto-playlist.  So I went ahead and set the parameters for the new auto-playlist and hit Save.   Then I checked my playlists and the new auto-playlist that I just created did not exist.
if you have your left sidebar hidden then that bug should have been fixed in yesterday's update

Yes, I can confirm the fix.

I have both Track Information (Details) and Artist Picture stacked (as tabs) in the right sidebar.  Everything displays properly in the right sidebar when I click on Track Information (Details), but nothing shows when I click on Artist Picture.  It just refuses to show and collapses everything from below up to the top.  Am I missing something? Thanks!
thats fixed for the next update.
Thanks!

The differences is that still you can make sidebars disappear temporarily but resizing a bit instantly recovers sidebars. Previously it didn't. Maybe you could consider not allowing any panels to disappear by resizing other panels.

This still happens by dragging side borders of left/right main panels & vertical column browser.

i guess it might not be obvious it is actually a custom tag. For the artist pictures, i assume whats going on is MB is looking for "Beatles, The" and doesnt find any image matches, so i would need to put in some handling for that

On the subject of 'sort album artist', if you have some spare moments could you look at the column browser?
When displaying this field in conjunction with 'ignore prefixes' the behavior is inconsistent compared with the main panel.
The problem I have is prefixes such as 'The...' are not being ignored when 'sort album artist' is used, but this only applies to the column browser, the main panel is able to sort/group and recognize prefixes correctly at the same time.

I just noticed a bug with the latest version - playlists refuse to display artist view, all other views are fine.
Can anyone else confirm? I'll send my settings file.

Edit: It's a bit more complicated than I thought. I was able to force artist view by changing the smart playlist view from 'default' to 'artists', and that worked - but when I changed it back to 'default' it's now stuck on artists and won't change views to album covers.

Yep, in 5877 right? I just came to see if something had changed and saw your post. I tried to change to artist but it goes right back to album cover.

i cant see anything wrong. When using Sort Artist or Sort Album Artist, MB first uses any override entered into the relevant custom tag. If its blank, then MB applies the "ignore prefixes" rule to the artist or album artist. So "The Future Sound of London" becomes "Future Sound of London, The"
Is it not doing that for you? I suggest you check if any value has been entered into the custom tag first

Maybe this screenshot will help explain what I mean, see for example "The 5th Dimension" in the column browser, which is filed under the letter T. In the main panel, the artist appears near the top of the library, starting with the number 5. Both panels are using the sort album artist field, so shouldn't it be sorted in the same manner?

can you check whether there is a value entered in the Sort Album Artist or Sort Artist tag?
I agree they should be consistent but i would say the bug is in the Artwork panel (assuming you have "The 5th Dimension" as the value in either of the sort custom tags

I can't rate tracks from the playlist view. small screencast (youtube)
you have disabled "enable direct editing of tags in the main panel" in the Tags(2) preferences.
However i see that v2.5 allows rating to be set even when that setting is used so i will correct that

In my case every artist name containing a prefix has a custom sort album artist tag set, this serves two purposes; to display the artist name normally (without the prefix at the end), and to group similarly named artists together for convenience. It occurs to me I might be using the field contrary to the way it was intended to be used.

Yeah, MusicBee will take anything entered in that field as an.override for the normal "$sort" behavior
