Doubt this is a bug so posting here.

Using 2.3 stable.

Running MusicBee for years but for the last week, CPU load is running at abour 25% the minute I start the application eg before playing any music.  Turned off all effects, equaliser etc but has no effect.

Reinstalled the application with default settings but still no luck. Tried shutting down various processes/apps in case there was some conflict but hasn't changed the CPU load.

Tried 2.4 beta but CPU load is also the same.

Is there anyway I can try figure out why all of a sudden there's such a high CPU load?

Thanks if anyone can help  :)

Some possible causes on my mind

- Anti-virus apps like DeepScreen feature of Avast
- What is it like before adding any tracks? - corrupt music files
- Where do you keep music files? - server, network connection issues
- Complex virtual tags?
- .Net framework or OS related issues

are you sure you reset the settings - doing a new install doesnt overwrite the settings file.
MusicBeeSettings.ini is located in:
c:\users\<your id>\AppData\Roaming\MusicBee\MusicBeeSettings.ini
which can be temporarily renamed to the file is reset
for the program AppData folder for portable installations

maybe it would be best to do a new installation using the portable version and create a new library

it would be useful if you PM me a link to the original settings file (help/ support/ view settings) if you havent already done the above

Thought I had managed to resolve it.

Deleted the library folder at User Name/My Music/MusicBee and created a new library/database.

CPU load instantly returned to normal use.

However, if I then exit and restart MusicBee, CPU goes back up to 25%.

Steven, tried that patched file (2.4) but no joy.

i had a look and nothing looks unusual or cause for further investigation. You mentioned you also have the issue using v2.2 - given thats been around for a couple of years and lack of other people reporting this (apart from a couple of people recently with v2.4) i would think its some conflict on your machine but i am afraid i cant help you any further with this.

edit:
one thought is it might be your online security software - avast with the deepscan feature enabled has been reported to cause issues with MusicBee by other forum members

How about trying this tool to see if anything's wrong with your .NET framework setup, assuming your other apps are working fine?

I have 3 screen shots I'd love to add to this discussion

Shot 1 before MusicBee

Shot 2 MusicBee Opened but untouched, Clearly shows increases in CPU usage as well as Memory usage increase.

Shot 3 Is MusicBee closed and browser opened. Notice that neither CPU or memory usage drop but anywhere near original readings.

Yes I tried Steve's patch as well as the previously mentioned .NET fix

I Use Windows 8.1 and AVG.

Again, I'd love to post but will settle to send them to you.

Thanks
Al

I Use Windows 8.1 and AVG.

I have no idea how high your CPU usage is without any info given. If it's unusually high, try launching MB after disabling AVG and check if that makes any differences since AVG's some feature (like Identity Protection) is known to hog CPU in some machines.

Where shall I send the originally offered info?

Any other suggestions?
