I tend to organize my music via playlists within genre folders, and also based on whether it s a full album or just a single song.

Kinda like:

Ambient (Folder)
  Full (Playlist)
  Songs (Playlist)

Downtempo (Folder)
  Full (Playlist)
  Songs (Playlist)

And so on and so forth for the rest of the genres I have...

Well my question is, is it possible to have settings that are different per playlist that save ?

Like for instance the songs playlist's within each genre I just want it to be sorted by artist in one big list and I don't even need the album column within this playlist but if I delete it, it deletes in every playlist.

And in the album playlists I want them to be sorted by album name ?

Right now if I change the sorting and column in one playlist it changes it in them all.

Is there a way I can work around this where a playlist will act independently as far as the setting within said playlist.

Are you using static playlists?  In that case, edit the playlist (right click > Edit Playlist) and check "custom fields for this playlist only".  You'll have to do it for each new playlist, but once you do it should stick.
