Hello,

it would be useful if I could check the tags for the selected items (selected song, selected album, selected artist).
Just let me right-click the item and select "Check tags" from the context menu.

Hello,

yes, this is different to "Edit" from the context menu.

Edit works only for songs, not for albums and artists.
I can only select multiple songs and select edit.

Check means that MusicBee analyzes the files and then shows me a table with errors.
First column: the song title.
Then you have a column telling the user what is wrong (missing tags, missing cover, missing song text).

This way I can check a specific artist (or album) and MusicBee tells me where I have to correct my data.

I know the "Tagging Tools" from the menu.
But this idea is different:
- user can check specific songs/albuns/artists
- user sees what is wrong with a specific song.

Actually this is not a bad idea at all. I would too like to see the tagging tools section be revamped a bit and grouping the commands "show files with missing... lyrics, tags, artwork" etc into a single tool with an easier and more efficient interface would be great.

Sounds good, but who/what defines the correctness? Everybody has own ideas, some use many user defined tags, others don't need even song text.

By the way, there are already features which could help: Custom search (which I use often for such questions), track browser filters or even playlists.

Hello,

MusicBee already has "Tagging Tols" with "Show files with missing tags" or "Show files with missing artwork".
These checks must be called separate, there is no way to perform all these checks in one step.
And there is also no way to check just the selected files / the selected album / the selected artist.
And there should be a dialog that shows the results of all scans in one window.

By the way, there are already features which could help: Custom search (which I use often for such questions), track browser filters or even playlists.

How do these features tell me what data in s specific MP3 file is missing?
Did I get that wrong?
I am talking about the tagging tools that are existing in MusicBee.

Greetings

Filters, playlists, and advanced searches all allow you to specify <Tag> "has no value" as a criteria, for identifying empty tags.  You can even create a list of such criteria to search at once.  "Any of" <Tag> "has no value".   For the track browser, you can show the tag you want to check and then select the "empty" item, which is always at the top of the list in the track browser.
