Highlighting playlist panel

If the side panel is set to Auto-Hide, highlighting in the playlists does not work.

i cant reproduce any issues so can you send a link to your settings file if you are not using a custom view or layout
to be clear, you mean highlighting once a playlist is clicked on, and the main panel does update to show the playlist tracks?

When clicking on a playlist, the yellow marker is missing under certain circumstances.
You can select the playlist, but the yellow marker is then not visible.
This also happens with standard views and not only with user-defined views.
