Hi
Maybe a simple question: I have set it up that if I copy new music files to the library, that that file will automatically be moved to the proper musicbee folder. Just one small problem: For me, lots of my files originally are in my default "downloads" folder.
When musicbee moves the file, it ALSO DELETES that root folder....! I can just click "undo", but this should not be neccessary... maybe there is an easy fix/setting?

I basically just copy the new mp3 (still untagged), want that to be moved to the musicbee folder and then I tag it, which also updates the path. But I don't want my downloads folder to be deleted lol.

Are there other files in the folder? As long as you don't have "also move remaining non-media files" set, then if there are other files MusicBee won't mess with the folder.

As pyschoadept said, if "also move remaining non-media files" is not enabled, then create a simple text file in the folder and leave it there. I use a filename of "DO NOT DELETE.TXT" and it's been there forever.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

It was enabled! Not sure what exactly that meant.
I knew it was likely just a simple setting!
Thank you!  :)

Any tips on what to do if moving the files is enabled? I have it turned on so that PDFs get moved to the library along with the music files and my place holder file will get moved too. I even tried setting it to be hidden but it will still get moved and the my "inbox" folder will be deleted

For the most part any albums I add to the inbox will be in their own subfolders which doesn't cause any issues, but occasionally I'll add a single file (mostly mix mp3s) directly to the inbox and these are the ones causing problems

Yes, you can still use a placeholder file but you need to deny yourself any permissions (so that the file cannot be moved, deleted etc):

Create your placeholder file and name it as required before proceeding.
Right click > Properties > Security tab > Edit
If your username is in the list of 'group or user names' then select it - if not you will need to Add > type in your username > Check names > ok.
Click the checkbox to 'deny' Full Control (which will select all 'deny' checkboxes)
OK > Yes > OK

Now you will no longer have permission to move or delete the file (or do anything with it).

(If you need to delete this file in the future you will have go back into the securities and allow full control for yourself. As the owner of the file you will still be able to do this.)
