Author Topic: Difference in number of albums  (Read 611 times)

Hello,

The number of albums indicated in the library doesn't match the real number. For example, as you can see (screenshot), 2023 announces 60 albums when there are 69. Though they are all clearly displayed in the main panel. It's like this for many years and genres.

I rescanned all the files and compressed the library, it doesn't change anything. I looked at the forum and didn't find any bug similar, except this topic. The patch doesn't exist anymore and my MusicBee version (3.58447) is newer, so...

Do you know how to fix this issue? Thanks in advance!  :)

I am going to guess that some albums are being counted twice in the bottom count because they are tagged with more than one album artist.  That would come down to a tagging inconsistency, not a Musicbee bug.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, I don't think it's that. It's extremely rare that I have an album with more than one artist (I mean, the album artist tag).

Maybe you can see more clearly with this another screenshot. There is a mismatch between the top left panel and the bottom/main one.

The album grouping setting in Preferences > Sorting/Grouping determines the (number of) albums displayed in the main panel.

On the other hand, the album count in the library explorer (top left panel on your screenshot) does not respect this setting. i.e it's only counting the number of album artists.
So yes, that is resulting in an inconsistent album count compared to the rest of the program. It's not necessarily a bug, but the logic may need to be reviewed.

Edited to include a "not" that I missed initially.

I think that this is being caused by your Library Explorer 'Sort By' setting. To correct this:

Click on the panel header (currently the word 'Genre') > Sort By > and select Album (which is the option I think you want).

Note that the 'Sort By' wording is a misleading term as it actually configures the hierarchical structure of the Library Explorer.

My bad😅tjinc's actually right.
Album Artist is not a hardcoded parameter there. The "show count" setting follows the sort by field.

Thank you all and especially tjinc!  :-*
The counters now match properly, it's perfect.
