Time it takes to select track increases with the number of tracks

Hello,


Start using MusicBee. What a great tool for managing collections. However I have 1 question.

When you have many tracks (2400/eg genre singles) in parts of your library, the amount of time it takes between when you select a track and when MusicBee highlights the track is really high, like 1 to 2 seconds!

If I add the same tracks in a playlist, highlighting goes instantly. I can click on whatever track and it immediately highlights it. When I do this in the library, it takes up to 2 seconds.

I would assume a playlist is just an index, but I would guess the library is also some kind of index. I don't see why there is a difference between the 2 on a functional level.

btw: my desktop is really fast, eg video and audio editing software works instantly. The only thing that doesn't go instantly is the issue I now have with MusicBee.

Maybe I can tune this behavior or I am using a wrong approach.

I am sure there are many users with much bigger collections.

I have in excess of 32,000 tracks and am not seeing the behavior you describe. Nor can I recall anyone else raising this issue. So that begs the question what version number (help > about) are you using and which install type (installer, portable, store)?

First and only install is latest version 3.3.7367.
I downloaded normal version: MusicBeeSetup_3_3_Update5.exe
Platform is Windows 10 home edition x64 (OS build 19041.329)

Unfortunately applying the patch didn't fix anything. In the library I can click 5 times really fast on 5 different tracks and then every second or 2 it highlights the tracks I clicked earlier. There seems to be a delay on all actions. I do 5 actions really fast and after it applies the 5 actions 1 by 1. It looks like it is suffering memory or something.

If you don't notice anything with that many tracks, I will try some other stuff, like moving the library file to another hdd and things like that and will update the topic here with my findings.

It only happens in the main panel when you sort on 'Album Cover'. If an Album has 2000 tracks in it, it is slow. If I sort on anything else, it goes instantly. I can live with it and will use a playlist for some albums.
