I've searched for about an hour on the website and I haven't found an answer to this.  When I create a playlist in Windows Media Player, I drag it to the synch screen and when I look on my player, I see the playlist in playlist menu and songs in the song menu.  When I either synch a playlist or drag and drop it to the player, I open up playlists, and all the songs are in the playlists folder on my player.  How do I get playlists?  I have relaxation music, country music, and hiphop on my player and it makes really strange transitions if I can't use playlists.  Help? :-\

did you try dragging the playlist node from the left navigator to the device node?

I can try that.  Thanks for the suggestion.  If I do that, will it use the internal memory only?  How do I know if it will be too much music and won't fill my player up?  I did that once and it made me think I had bricked my player.  Took me about an hour to figure out how to change modes and format the player.

right click on the device, where you can configure the locations for music files and playlists

Sorry to be dense.  Yes, I could do that and change the location every time I want to synch to the device.  I think that's what you're saying to do.  If I want to put it on the external storage to change the root folder for music to that location?

I was able to create a playlist by dropping the playlist on the device.  I am still trying to put files on the extermal sd card.  Will try to change the music file location to the card and see if that works.  Thanks for your help to at least get the first part done!

Ok, so that worked to change the location.  At least it appears to have.  However, what a pain to switch the locations each time, and uncheck any playlists I don't want synch'd to that location.  Is there a better way?  Maybe an enhancement?  I may go back to Windows Media player until I know MusicBee works the way I need it to.

the screen is for 'device settings' which should only need to be set once - did you try it more than once?
