Hi there. I have been searching the internet for hours now trying to find an answer to this question, so I hope someone can help me out here.

I just added MusicBee to my new PC. I use it for podcasts only at this time (subscribing, downloading episodes, sorting episodes into playlists, etc.). I started downloading some episodes but pretty quickly decided that I don't want to download every single one since I subscribe to a lot of podcasts and that can take up a lot of space on my PC. So I started marking episodes I didn't want to listen to as "Listened" and left the episodes I want to listen to in the future unmarked. However, MusicBee doesn't seem to have a way to organize by this metric (which is super frustrating btw).

So I made a custom field called "Listen" where I would mark unlistened episodes as "No" (as in *no* I have not listened to them) and episodes I have listened to / have no desire to listen to will be marked as "Yes" (as in *yes* I have listened / signaling this is something that I don't need to listen to again or ever). However for some reason, MusicBee is not letting me edit this field when I right click the track, click edit, and go to Tags (2) where the custom field is located. The internet seems to think it is because my files are "read-only" however, I was able to edit multiple episodes another way with no issue: by adding the field as a display field. When it is on screen and I click within the column, I am able to edit the field to my hearts content. This could work fine, except marking each podcast episode one by one is not the path I chose to take in life...I'd much rather bulk edit, which I can't do since the field won't let me type anything in it when I right click - edit.

Right click - edit not only doesn't work when I select multiple tracks at once but also doesn't work when I try to edit a track individually. Clearly the track can be edited since I did it for multiple files. And I guess for added context, I have only added one podcast feed so far, so I highly doubt that only some episode files are read only and some aren't. Again, I can edit the field directly if it is a column in my view, but if I want to edit multiple files at once and I right click - edit, the field is grayed out.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this? I'd like to be able to use this feature so I can save space on my computer and make unlistened episodes easily accessible.

Thanks everyone!

I do agree that Podcasts are not quite so well served by MusicBee as is Music, but that is quite understandable and, in my opinion, the correct thing to do as Steven's time working on MusicBee is limited.

I don't have a specific answer for you but I do have a suggestion that may help:
Try using the <Play Count> field.
When an episode is marked 'listened' the play count is increased by 1. I would think you could use a playlist to identify all 'not listened' podcasts (with a rule <Play Count> IS 0).

I haven't really played with this but it might give you some ideas.
