Hi

I just installed Musicbee and have no music in it yet.

I've clicked on the Edit drop down menu, then Edit Preferences and then Library.

In the "monitored folders" section I've ticked "scan on startup only" and then clicked Choose Folders to navigate to the folder where my music is stored.
I've selected the folder and clicked OK and the file I have chosen now appears..
when I click Apply and Save nothing happens.
After a restart of Musicbee, sill nothing happens and none of my files are visible.

Any help, much appreciated.

Am using a Dell PC with Windows 11.

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I don't have an answer for you right now as to why the selected folder wouldn't be added to your monitored folders list.
But to get you going, are you able to manually scan in the music files in that specific folder to your MusicBee library? (go to file > scan folders for new files...)

Hi, thanks for responding.

I have just managed to get my folder to appear in the Monitored Files window, but when I click Apply and Save none of the music files in that folder appear in Musicbee.

I think I'm missing some steps?

Just one more step...have uu restarted MusicBee as it will only scan the folder on startup?

I did a restart, nothing happened

I have tried to "manually scan in the music files in that specific folder to your MusicBee library? (go to file > scan folders for new files...)" and that's either working or has crashed!

If I click "cancel" I get the popup: "Files are still being scanned - do you want to abort the process?"

I guess I should just wait for that to do its thing? There's a LOT of music to scan (about 500G)

Yes...that or a corrupt file(s) halting the process, in which case I would suggest scanning your files in batches - as opposed to all at once in order to sniff out the problem files.
Anything in your error log? (help / support / view error log)

Also, if the "new file action" setting below is set to send the files to your "inbox", you might wanna take a look there.
The inbox can be found on the left navigator which pops up when you create a new tab using the + (plus) button.

Hi

"New file action" is set to "add to library".

I left it on all night and all my files appear to have ben transferred.

Just doing a tidy up operation now.

I think the issue was all those hidden 4KB files which were created by Apple, but I've got rid of them now.

Thank you for your time and help, it's very much appreciated.
