I accidentally removed over 100 albums from my collection, and put them back in later... so I lost things like my ratings and listened status on those.

I have a  smart playlist that I depend on that shows unlistened albums.

but now it is polluted with some albums I know I have listened to before.

1. What is a good way to mark some of those albums as listened?
2. is there a way to do it where it won't show up as recently played? I have playlists that I also depend on that show what I listened to recently and it would be a pity if it gets clogged up with these.

This really depends on how you are defining an album as listened/not listened. Perhaps you could post a screenshot of your playlist settings for 'unlistened albums'.

I assume that your definition of 'recently played' depends simply on 'Last Played' field. So as long as you are not changing that (which you can't do directly) then you should be ok.

"Last Played [Album]" = has no value AND
"Album Rating" = has no value // I don't know why this is here, maybe I added it simply for good measure.. I can't remember

ah ok I didn't think this through.. lol

I don't really want to rate albums without listening to them... so I guess I might have to remove that 2nd bit from the playlist.

and I guess I would have to play a bit of each album for it to no longer show up in the smart playlist

is there a way to remove entries (songs / albums) from recently played history? my last played albums playlist uses "last played [album]" has a value... and I guess just has it sorted..

Sorry, I think there is more to consider now, and I am just off out for the night. If no one else picks this up I will revisit tomorrow.

Just bear in mind that all the tracks of an album will have a value set in <Last Played (Album)> even if only one track has been played. To me it doesn't feel like the right field to be using here.

no rush...

hmm I wonder if there is a way to make the auto playlist exclude all files imported on a certain date? I imported these 100+ albums on the same day. That would solve my problem I think

Among the possible criteria of an auto-playlist, you'll find "Date Added" and "Date Added (Album)".
If all the tracks of an album were imported on the same day, both fields have the same value.
Otherwise, "Date Added" may vary per track, whereas "Date Added (Album)" is common for all the tracks of the same album (= oldest Date Added).

So Karbock has given you the best solution - using the rule <Date Added> IS NOT dd/mm/yyyy is simple to implement and should not affect any other playlists.

As to your playlist original rule: <Last Played (Album)> HAS NO VALUE
This will mark your whole album as listened even if you have only played one track - if this is what you want then all's good, but you might like to look at the field <Album Played?> which is the same for all tracks of an album and which can result in one of three values:

N - all tracks have a play count of 0
% - at least one track has a play count of 1 or more, and at least one track has a play count of 0
Y - all tracks have a play count of 1 or more
