This is something I have experienced more than once for a longer period of times. (many years)
When switching libraries, sometimes tracks that are in 'library 1' get showing up in 'library 2'

I have experienced it again today (v3.6), when after switching to another library a track from the previously used library shows up in the other library.

I don't think I have raised this before because I wasn't able to make it clearly replicable.
And today I am still not able to provide a step-by-step report of what may be causing this.
But I am convinced for 100% that this is a bug.

I'm only hoping that someone will be able to confirm this issue, and is able to provide more details why or when this is happening.

To me it seems there currently is no 'brick wall' that makes sure it is impossible for libraries to interfere with, and affect each other.

Are they appearing in the main panel?
Because if it's the playing or upcoming tracks panel, I recall reading a thread where it was by consensus that those lists remain unaltered when switching between libraries.

Yep, in the main panel. Just as if it was added to the library intentionally.

The same issue was reported by psychoadept and fixed a month or so ago. So are you completely sure the contamination didn't happen some time ago and you only just noticed it?
Without some sort pattern its very hard for me to address

100%
It happened today using a pretty much clean install of 3.6.9132 P

I understand and appreciate that.
It's also the reason why I haven't raised this before (or maybe I have?) or making a bigger issue of it.
But I have no doubt whatsoever that this problem exists.

some of the relevant things are:
- you are talking about the music library and not the inbox?
- are files added to either library from an automatic file monitor and if so, is it at startup only
- otherwise how do you add files to each library eg. press Insert key, drag drop etc

correct

both libraries were populated using 'Scan folders for new files' [Ins]
'Scan on startup' is active
'auto-organise' is off

only by using  [Ins]

When this happened the last time, a song had played from library 1, and then stopped using 'stop after current'
Then after switching to library 2, that song appeared in the main panel.

edit:
Just in case it matters: both the libraries reside in a folder named 'Libraries' that I created, so they are not in the default 'Library' folder.

i think thats the issue - if the current playing track is in the old library then when the playcount is updated it will be added to the new library. Thats fixed for the next update
