3rd day of music-file hell...
this is why i never listen to my music collection.
i can't emphasize enough that my needs are quite simple.
I don't need 90% of the functionalities in Music Bee.
I just want to use my old  MusicBee MP3 playlists and keep making new ones.  No need for skins, etc.

I  had been having problems with Music Bee, so I uninstalled, then downloaded & installed 3.5.8698 P  Portable
I scanned the relevant Music Folder.
I now need to connect my playlists.
Before I do, I went looking for my MusicBee program files.  Can't find!  Has name changed or something?
Not in Start Menu
Not in Program Files or Program Files (x86) (which is where directed during the installation!!!)
Windows Explorer searches of My PC, C Drive etc for "Musicbee" had no results ("working on it")
Music Bee Doesn't appear in the Windows Control Panel Uninstall or Change function.
It doesn't appear in the Windows right-click-open-with function.

- maybe selecting the portable version was the mistake?
I DO see that the Music Bee files I had saved have a new "Last modified" date.

What's my next move?
try to install a different Edition (Windows Store Edition or Installer Edition) ?
I can't find Music Bee to open it. I can't uninstall of course.  I can't open music files with MusicBee
 :'(

If anyone has the patience to help me get it running normally again, I'd really appreciate it.
Thankyou kindly.

So assuming you now have your library intact and see all of your actual music files, you want to get your playlists back. Are these Static playlists (i.e. each song was manually added to a fixed playlist), or Auto Playlists? The Auto playlists should be easy, just copy them into the new MB Playlist folder, then restart MB.

For Static playlists, you can move them, or just add the existing folder to the library. However, if the storage location has changed on your computer since these were created, you will need to edit the playlists manually to point at the new locations. This is always the case with static locations - if the filenames or folder structure changes, playlists cannot find them.

You "installed" the portable version, which doesn't use the Windows Installer. So it won't be in the Start Menu, or Control Panel - that is the nature of a portable install. You will need to find the folder where you did put it on your local drive. From there you can create a desktop or taskbar shortcut to launch it quickly.

MotleyG,
I'm so sorry to tell you that none of your assumptions are correct.
I do not see my library.
I can see my Music files on my Hard Drive, but not in MusicBee.
I cant open MusicBee.
When I installed MusicBee last night I directed it to Program Files (x86) but it doesn't appear there.
I searched for MusicBee using Windows Explorer with no results..

These two sentences beg the question, "so why are you wanting to use MB?"

There are plenty of basic music players for Windows that will let you listen to music without any of those extra features. Take a look at Media Player Classic, for example.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Thanks, Maybe by searching with the term "lightweight" I can find one. I only need audio, so MPC is a bit much, but you have set me in a better direction, assuming I can bring my many playlists with me.  If you happen to have another suggestion, for laptop, not mobile devices, I appreciate hearing the name.  I'll start picking through some options. :-*

Sorry for any confusion. But I made no assumptions, these were quotes from your own first post in this thread.

It appears you are now considering alternative players. Best of luck in your search for something that better suits your needs.
