I just downloaded Musicbee, but can't seem to add music. I'm using the 'scan folders for new files' feature.  I just get an error message.

When I check the error log it says:

05/10/2023 20:54:14 - 10.0.19045.0 - 3.5.8447.35892D - System.IO.IOException: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

This is my itunes library that I don't normally have any issue with. Also, when I try adding files rather than folders, there is no problem. But I've got too much music to add each LP's files, I just want to add the entire library in one hit.

Thanks in advance for you advice.

One or more of the files you're trying to bring into MB is corrupt. Instead of bringing them all in at once, try bringing in small batches. Start off with a few albums at a time and see if you can find when it throws the error. That will narrow down which file(s) is causing the problem.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Ok, thanks - how do I add folders, or a group of folders? I've worked out how to add files, but I don't want to have to add every LP individually as it will take me a week!

If you are using the Installer or Portable versions of MusicBee downloaded from the MusicBee website, you could apply the latest patch here. (MusicBee 35 Patched.zip - extract to your MusicBee folder overwriting existing files).
I believe Steven put in some handling to log the problem file in the error log (I've not tested this).

If you are using the MS Store version then you cannot apply this patch. If so, or if the patch does not work, you will have to go the longer way:

In the 'scan folders for new files' window, you have currently selected iTunes Media\Music folder. What phred is suggesting is to click the 'Choose Folders' button and select a subset of the folders contained in your music folder. Hopefully you can gradually narrow it down to identify the problem file(s).
