...to MusicBee and (after spending an hour or two to setup/get used to) loving it.

However, these features instantly stood out as missing (although, I am new and they might exist or have been suggested before).

DOUBLE CLICK FOR MINI: Would love it if MusicBee could switched to Mini mode when you double-click the program's top title bar (where it says Music Bee & Minimise / Maximise / Close buttons)

THIRD COLUMN TO MUCH:
The third column in the Music Library (for me) is unnecessary, I have them set to Artist and Album and Mood... lol. It would be good to have an option to choose how many you wanted.

BETTER EQ:
This is just about the number one thing that lets me down with all (approx 50) music players I have tried and over the last 12 years.
No music player on the market even has a GOOD EQ; they're usally like, 8 or 10 bands, sometimes you might get UP TO 12 but even still the few "frequencies" you can adjust seem to be chosen at random. Does any research go into this? I could tell you how to make the perfect EQ for music playing applications...

VST:
...which brings me to my next wish. I've always wondered why no music player has VST compatability? That would solve my above issue, but also open up a whole world of development (and business) for the player that finally did it. DSP's are mediocre (and there is a serious lack of decent ones anyway), but I do like the DSP chain MusicBee has (and that it's incorparted into the EQ window), because I already run a DSP-VST host in MusicBee and then a VST-VST chainer in that. It's a pain in the ass, but worth it. VST effects FTW.

Anyway, keep up the awesome unbloated work.
Hope to maybe see some of these wishes incorperated into newer versions of MusicBee or that they help spark something better!

1 - either double click on the player control panel (excluding the track info part) or in the main preferences set "minimise to" = Mini Player so it will be opened when you click the minimise button
2 - set in Layout preferences panel
3 - foobar has 15 i think so you could try out that app, but i dont plan to increase from 10 as adding more increases CPU usage
4 - if you do a forum search, there is a topic with how to get VST plugins working using a WinAmp DSP plugin that works with MB

1. Awesome

2. Awesome

3. Not a fan of foobar at all. Tried converting to it a number of times.
No offence, I just find it annoying the last thing music player developers worry about is... playing music well!
Why did you choose thosee frequencies? They aren't really what they're labeled as.
I'll just stick with doing below.

4. "I already run a DSP-VST host in MusicBee and then a VST-VST chainer in that. It's a pain in the ass, but worth it." - but I just noticed this; http://www.un4seen.com/download.php?z/5/bass_vst24 - relevant?

This Winamp clone (that is miles better than Winamp) has an 18 band EQ - http://www.aimp2.us/ - I think that's the most I have found.

out of curiosity, what do you use the eq for? I only use such a thing when I process a vinyl/cassette rip, in which case I always apply whatever changes I make to the file, which is best done with an audio editor anyway, rather than a music player such as MusicBee.
For me, a music player is about playing music well - exactly as you said it - which is why I see no point in fooling around with frequenzies, as this changes how a track sounds from how it was originally intended to sound. Or am I missing something?

I agree with ksvane.

MusicBee already is among the best concerning sound quality by using wasapi. How it sounds for real is most likely due to which recordings, DACs, active or passive loudspeakers, headphones and amplifiers you use in your setup. A EQ won't do any good in most cases.

However I'm not sure if the "replay gain" function has any impact on sound quality.  But luckily that is optional :)
