Music files won't import

Let me start off by saying that I'm really a Musicbee neophyte. Not super savvy PC wise, just learn things after doing research and trial/error experience.  I came over from iTunes some time ago after it started deleting mass amounts of my files on its own. I've been working on rebuilding my library ever since. I am using another program to rip music, put it onto a zip stick, edit the tags, and then Add Files to Library. This has worked just fine for over a year now. Suddenly it will not actually bring the files into my library, which is stored in an external. I've tried dragging and dropping into the inbox, and then pulling it into the library. It seems like it works, but it ends up not moving into the library, and still pulling it from the zip stick. When the files in the stick are deleted, the files can't be used any longer. Please help! I am so confused how to get these files to actually move into my library. I'm ready to throw the whole thing in the ocean lol Thanks in advance.

Just adding a file to the Inbox or Library won't move it to any other location.
MusicBee will just look for it on your "zip stick" (USB drive?), so yeah it won't find them if you delete them later.
Where do you keep the music files that you have tagged and moved from the Inbox to the Library and how were you doing that?

It sounds like you may have had Auto-Organisation turned on previously to copy but it is now disabled.
Note: Turning this on will move all of your files.
Do not enable this on on your current music library unless you know what I'm talking about.

Some screenshots will help. In particular, Edit > Edit Preferences > Library and the Tag Editor Properties tab for a file in your Inbox and a file from your Library.

You can copy them from the stick to a folder on your machine.
I created a folder called music on a removable drive (with subfolders for albums, soundtrack, and artists) and put all my music there. as long as the drive letter remains the same you should not have any issues.
You could also put Music Bee portable on the drive also.

Thanks for responding. Previously, we were using Applian to rip audio from various sources, ie YouTube,  Spotify,  etc, trying to rebuild the hard to find tracks that iTunes decided we didn't want anymore. I'd pull it from Applian,  fix the tags, and hold it on a zip stick/USB drive/thumb drive/whatever    until I had the full album(s). Then I would import it from that into the musicbee library I have in an external 6Tb hard drive, using the add files to library function. Until the most recent update, it would take the files from the stick (which would then be empty) and add them to the external. Now it doesn't. I have been using auto-organize, and still have it checked in the settings, so I don't know why it would have changed now. I never used the inbox because it seemed like an unnecessary step, as I was working on it before pulling it in. I just really began using the inbox yesterday to try to figure out what went wrong, were they counting these tracks as duplicates etc. While getting these pics, I also just noticed that the option for "automatically sweep and organise new files" is unchecked. I don't know if that was checked before, as I'm not the one doing this primarily, and he can't remember if it was either! Lol

Two things cross my mind here:

1) Auto-organize rules are based on the source drive letter, so if that changed it would stop working.
2) Auto-organize doesn't affect the inbox, only the official library.

Automatically sweep and organizse new files is an auto-organize light that works for the inbox, so that might solve the problem.

It looks like my library changed its source drive letter from E, the external, to C, the PC, which is less than ideal. Aaaaargh. How do I switch it back to the correct one? Safely, and with as little anxiety as possible, if possible lol

Your library as in the .mbl and associated files? Or are you talking about the auto-organize settings? Another screenshot would probably help.
