Questions / MusicBee can't find updated filenames after using MP3tag
Last post by DaveAlmighty on June 13, 2024, 02:58:50 PM   |  Started by DaveAlmighty
So I'm trying to organise my library (poorly) and I am updating files in MP3tag. I'm using the auto numbering wizard and then doing Convert - Tag Filename using the following format: %discnumber%-$num(%track%,2) %title%

Once I've done this MusicBee can't find the files anymore. I've tried selecting the files -> Send To -> File Rescan but this hasn't worked. I assume I'm doing something wrong as it seems to work for others but not sure what.

This MusicBee forum is one of the exceptions on the internet where it's as good and friendly as the software itself...
Glad I found it, and will pas it on every chance I get  8)
Please don't share this treasure with any lazy or not-so-well-behaved acquaintances.
To be honest, The Hive usually treats those far less kind ;-)

Questions / Re: MixedInKey

You should be able to accomplish that by creating a custom tag.
(type 'custom tag' in the search box here, and the first hit at the top will link to a tutorial on that)

If you are not sure how MixedInKey writes the tag that you are looking for, use MusicBee's Tag Inspector on your files to check how it is written exactly.

Questions / Re: Compilation Albums split into artists and tracks

Having listened to more, the issue seems to be compilation albums only.

Your issue to me seems to be that you are thinking of these albums as compilations, but you're not conveying that to MusicBee - which is leveling them as individual tracks.
You should remove the <Album Artist> tag from your compilation albums, which will allow MusicBee to see them as a compilation, rather than individual tracks.

Questions / Re: Capturing metadata for an LP I ripped using VinylStudio

I've been using Vinyl Studio for many years and am not experiencing the issue you're reporting.

I would think this is a question that should be asked of Vinyl Studio.

Have modified your script and after testing 2 CD's it looks like that this is what I wanted to achieve !
Thank you very much in helping me so often, much appreciated Hiccup.
(I was reluctant to ask this at the Musicbrainz forum, it different there if you are a noob)

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: "Toggle Crossfade" hotkey and panel button

Hi Zak,
sorry - I expressed myself bad ...

I'm not sure the icons on the right-hand side are accurate anyway - that suggests a non-linear crossfade, which I don't see represented in the MusicBee settings.
That's of course an important detail - IF - you know what the symbol means, which most likely "95% of the users" aren't able to interpret ;). No offense.
I know what the symbols mean. My point is that MusicBee currently only offers fade-in and fade-out times (i.e. the left-hand icon examples):
... when I wrote "you", I didn't meant "you" in person but "users" instead. Stupid mistake - I know.

My mockup symbols where just a suggestion from a designers perspective.
I never had the intention to suggest changing the way, how MB should exactly process the cross-fade.

I'm astonished how sometimes every detail is getting interpreted, even if there was no intention behind :-X
That lead me to add a comment to my initial post now.

Greetings

Plugins / Re: LyricsReloaded (Latest)

Any one tried to implement https://lrclib.net/. It has bettet sync lyric database than musicmatch.
A user of the AIMP player recently posted a script for lrclib that adds that source to its lyrics plugin and man that thing is FAST and draws an amazing amount of hits.  He found the API seems to have separate "sections" for both static and synchronized lyrics so posted separate scripts for each.  I have to add my encouragement to Mayibongwe and anyone here to take a look at its open source API published at https://lrclib.net/docs and see what they can do to either create a separate MusicBee plugin for it or add it to LR.

So a full implementation your suggestion would also require a rethink/rewrite of how the cross-fading is actually done, not just the addition of some new buttons.
Will just have to see if Steven thinks it is worthwhile.

Don't know why accessibility features always get these kinds of responses, first.
I will hope you never suffer from palsy.
It changes a lot of things in your life.
I'm sorry to hear about your disability, but my response to the subject about player options had absolutely nothing to do with anyone's personal health.  Being unable to walk without facing a wall of pain changes a lot of things too.
