Bug Reports / Upcoming tracks bug

If you press 'Play Library Shuffled', and queue some tracks



Then press Skip track from the right mouse button menu


And then press skip track (the media button) or wait until the song has played, MB will skip over the queued tracks and play the next 'naturally' shuffled song.


Interestingly clearing the queued tracks from upcoming tracks, then re-queuing the same tracks, then doing the steps above doesn't reproduce the bug.  Though if you press 'Play Library Shuffled' the bug will happen again.  This also happens if you have played songs for a while, but haven't queued songs (and more importantly pressed Skip track (again from RMB menu)).

I downloaded a new EP that has a WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK tag embbeded.

This new album is causing a 1-3s freeze when opening it (from albums view) to see the tracks contained, or when editing the tags (artist, album, lyrics, etc.).  Music sounds fine, no glitchiness, but changing tracks is similarly very laggy.

The album in question is this.

Slightly unrelated, FLAC had some real trouble getting any compression done on these tracks.  Usually I can get 50-40% reduction in file size, but with these I was looking at 20-10% reduction.

Bug Reports / Visualiser and ASIO

Having visualiser open whilst using ASIO makes the music play at about 1.5-2x rate.  The audio also has a lot of clipping.

The visualiser can be in the background, but if it is open (e.g. visible) the glitchy audio starts.  Doesn't occur with DirectSound.

Questions / Setting for mini-player

Is there a setting for the mini player to choose where it is docked?  I have a multi-monitor setup, with MB on my left monitor and the right one being my main monitor.  I'd like to have the mini-player docked to my secondary monitor, but it always docks to my main monitor.

Bug Reports / Asus Essence STX II

Enabling ASIO in MB settings with re-sampling off, on at 96kHz or 192kHz will result in the audio becoming corrupted.  Interestingly if re-sampling is set to 48kHz (in my config) the audio works fine. 

When re-sampling is off, or on (at 96 or 192), pressing next track will more often than not result in the track sounding extremely distorted and like it is played at slightly higher tempo (I assume this is a problem related to using a higher sample rate).  I tested this with both Tempo control on and off.

Since I can bypass this problem by setting the re-sampling to 48kHz it is at best, a minor nuisance, but still something worth reporting.

Questions / Queue function and skip track

It appears I've messed with some setting in my player, since the queue function seems crippled.  I did a whole reinstall of Windows a week or so ago; I pasted the settings files back to MB to get it looking like I want, but now it seems the queue function doesn't work.

This is how my "Upcoming tracks" looks like.


Here I have queued a new track


And when I skip to the next track, the queue should start playing

but MB just skips over the queue.  I added even more songs to the queue, but MB happily skips over them and plays the next song that is "naturally" shuffled.  Sometimes MB might play the song I have queued, but more often than not the queue won't work.

Most likely I'm actually missing some setting, or MB got an update and my setting file was messed up when I had to reinstall Windows.

EDIT: I did some testing and it appears if I have the "Now Playing" tab open the queue breaks down, but if I'm just in my library view the queue works just fine.  If I change to the Now Playing tab in the middle of a queue, it completely breaks down and plays the next song that  was shuffled initially, without the queue.

Also something I meant to mention but forgot.  The Skip track function doesn't work in the Upcoming tracks menu.  Before I grabbed the latest version I got an error "song not found" or something similar when I pressed skip track.

Questions / Changing Song/Album/Artist displayname

Is there an easy way to change the display name of a track?  For example I have some Russian songs that are displayed and have tags with Cyrillic alphabet.  I would like to change the titles locally (in the library view and in MB) to the translated version, whilst keeping the filename and the tags embedded in the file the same.

Bug Reports / MB Freezing

This happens often in the library after MB has been open for 10-15 minutes or more.  The freeze occurs when I scroll through my album list.  Task Manager doesn't give an error, the program doesn't go unresponsive according to windows.  MB doesn't give an error and will actually play the currently playing song to the end, but nothing afterwards.  The progress bar will still keep going forward, but all other elements in MB are frozen.  I have to force close MB through task manager to restart.

MB gives no errors, and the latest entries in my error log are from 27th of July for removal of dead links.

Edit: This freeze seems to happen most often when MB is changing a song and at the same time I'm scrolling through the album list.  Seeing that people aren't reporting this bug it's likely a problem with my settings or config.

Questions / Playlist order in syncing

I have a few playlist on my PC that I sync to my phone.  On MB I have set them to be sorted by Album, but on the .m3u file I have on my phone the files are only added to the end of the list.  Some earlier files are in order, but any that I have added lately will just get pasted at the bottom of the file.

Is there a setting I can use to fix this?

Questions / Device Sync

Sometime after I started using the device sync option from MB again I started to get some trouble with album artwork.  For some reason MB resizes SOME of the .jpg files.  The strange thing is, the change is not consistent in anyway; the resolution change may be scratching off a 1000 pixels from a 1400x1400 to 400x400, or going from 1500x1500 to 650x650.

Before you ask, I don't have artwork resize option ticked.  I have MB set to copy the artwork as cover.jpg on the 'artwork storage' settings.  I didn't make a bug report because it's likely this is only affecting me.

Questions / Library totals contradict

In the picture below I have the library totals open from the library statistics panel. The small bar underneath is the statusbar. When I press Ctrl+A to select all the albums in my library the statusbar shows correctly 8 days 5 hours and 9 minutes as does the Library totals panel.  Interestingly the file size differs by about 4 GB. Windows Explorer gives me 79,8 GB. The 79,8 figure also includes the cover art pictures.


Question is, what are those 4 extra gigs doing in the file size prompt?

MusicBee Wishlist / Device Sync

So I've been playing with the Device sync tool in MB. Everything works great so far.

A few additions I would like to see are:

A time estimate for the sync. I'm currently processing 1732 files so if possible I would like to see a time estimate, even a coarse one.

For the sync preview I would like to see under 'action' a new prompt 'no action'. I had a few albums corrected to a new folder sorting mode, but some albums had updated tags so I saw that only a part of the album had the 'update' action. I was confused whether MB was actually copying them; later I got that the tracks were already correct in my phone so no action was needed. To avoid the confusion I'd like to see the 'no action' under action to confirm that the file is already correct and a copy isn't needed.

An option to see the percentage copied on a per-track basis. E.g. 50% of X file copied, when at 100% change it to just Copied and move on.


None of these are critical, more 'quality of life' improvements.

Questions / Album repeat problem

Whenever I play an album from my collection everything works fine, all the songs are in order (when the shuffle's off).  But when the album finishes and MB is set to play the album on repeat, it always skips to the last six songs and repeats them.  This also happens on shuffle, but for the six or so last songs that were played.

Questions / ASIO Problems

When I use the ASIO output for the audio player, and skip to next track, the following track gets horribly distorted.  If I listen to the playing track and let it run it's course and MB plays the next track all is fine, same with skipping back, eg. playing the previous track.  The bug doesn't appear at all with Direct Sound.

I have tried setting the resample option to all available options, including off, same with buffer size.  In the ASIO control panel I have 16-bit as depth and 10ms latency.

1st, In album view when editing tags on individual tracks, especially lyrics this happens.


Here's the first window, everything is fine.


When changing albums to edit other songs lyrics without closing the editor window


Continues even when returning to the original track

Interestingly I can use the scroll wheel to see a small part of the beginning of the sentence.

and 2nd when in Now playing screen I get this error message when double clicking the track name to find it in the Library.

This probably happens due to the Now Playing view being in a separate tab from the Library.
