I do agree with Steven, although, I do know a fair amount of people that use and love the functionality in itunes (granted they have a smaller library <2000 tracks).

Just out of curiousity, what is the complete list of genre categories?

And also, is the complete default Genre list based on the standard id3v1 genre list (255 genres)?

Steven, I came up with a quick design for the unknown genre (similar in nature to other players). Is this the sort of thing you were after? The colours I chose came straight from the Musicbee Icon

I think this is a nice idea, newcomers from itunes will expect similar functionality, and I definetely wouldn't be opposed to creating them.

I had a quick go at creating one (Classical). Does anyone have any ideas as to the general style of images should be? Resolution?

I agree with the drop shadows, despite being a minor cosmetic addition, it really would give a polished look.

+1, I would find  this extremely useful (as would many others), and in turn, would allow me to completely get rid of mp3tag.

A method of editing multiple songs from the tag inspector (similar to the view extended tags in mp3tag) would be perfect.

@boroda74, I partly agree, although I must admit it is easy to miss, and having something like '<multi>' would certainly be more intuitive. Just my opinion though

I would be very excited to see custom controls as Steven talked about, it would definitely give Musicbee a more polished look, as well as giving us skin creators something else to play around with

I agree with Cartman, the UI would look sleeker (just my opinion) if the menus were on top, or optional a la firefox 4 (pressing ALT reveals them at the top).  The only problem with this though is that the menus in MusicBee are in use quite a lot, but that could be because I am still sorting and refining my music collection.

I made a mockup with the player controls at the top (using rotems pop pink skin, with slightly darker player controls).

I think it would be a great option to have, especially those with high resolution monitors

I noticed something else too, but it might be intended behavior. I also have it set to show the tracks underneath the artwork view, and when I try to add the 'artwork' field to the tracks, it shows the albums' album artwork repeated for each track of that album - not one artwork with every track from the album to the right of it.

Ive just tested the paste artwork function out, and it works very well! The 0kb .dat file bug has completely gone now

I doubled checked the artwork tab, and the image is set to 'Artist', and the file is marked as embedded.

The .dat files in question ARE in the artistthumb folder, but they are 0kb, and the windows photo viewer says that the image file is empty after changing it to .png.

*edit*

After deleting the .dat files in question and restarting musicbee, the pictures now show (as sarge describe)

I've tried everything, but the images do not show, does it matter if the image is embedded within the music file or not?

Shall I try deleting the artistThumb folder?

thanks for the advice, but after adding an image and saving, the artist picture does not show in the artwork view - even after a refresh or restart.



Are these settings correct?

Hey Steven,

Am I correct in thinking that to manually add an artist picture (the one to show up when artwork view is grouped by artist), I have to add an image in the editor, then set the picture type to 'artist'? I have tried this with no success.

Thanks for making this feature so fast!
