MusicBee Wishlist / Mini Player Always on Top
« on: May 09, 2023, 04:40:59 PM »
I think this is working as designed and so the issue fits on the wish list, but might be a bug of sorts:

I have Mini Player set to be "always on top" and it does exactly that!  The problem is that it is ruthless  :-\

If I am in Internet Explorer and hit F11 (Full screen view)  or a PowerPoint full screen show, the MB window persists on top.  Maximising it switches focus back to MB as would be expected.

The Windows taskbar is also always on top but it becomes subservient to certain other full screen calls so it doesn't appear during a slideshow for example.

Thus during a ppt Slideshow so my 'bottom screen locked' MB miniplayer is left floating a half inch of the screen base.

Could MB be set to be second top to certain apps (maybe specified in Prefs?) and therefore not visible - as with taskbar?

Hope that makes sense

Bug Reports / Play Count Tag not updating after replace edit
« on: April 11, 2023, 06:10:50 AM »
Strange problem this but it occurred because I have a playcount filter on my mixer playlists and decided to ammend the playcounts on one podcast stream that had 300 episodes.

I did not want to reset to zero since am using other numbers for selection criteria so instead selected all files and used tag "find and replace" with a regular expression \w wildcard search on play count.

This worked well or so I thought with all the displayed play counts changing as expected on the panel view

But playing the podcast no longer increments the value and if I change it in edit the panel view of playcount is different from the edit view and still does not increment
Puzzling as I would think there is only one database field so I don't know how it is holding two values.

I noticed this because my mixer rules on playcount were being ignored - ie the mixer is using the panel view of playcount not the edit view.

I finally solved this by resetting using the wildcard with an empty replace field and they all started functioning again.

In summary it seems that replacing the play count tag using the search and replace tool changes some views of that field but not others...

I have checked and this is repeatable even with one single podcast.

Something similar happens with music files too but difficult to pin down the logic there on what is going on.   No longer problem for me but something's not quite right

Bug Reports / closing download sub window error
« on: March 18, 2023, 04:28:19 AM »
Recently (not related to changing version) I have started to get this error every time I click "close" on the download progress window accessed by clicking on the top right arrow.  It never used to do this.

It tells me to report this "unexpected error" here: (how many expected errors are built into the software?!!)

Bug Reports / Mini Player Follows Mouse
« on: November 17, 2022, 10:36:11 AM »
An unusual bug, which I can repeat using any window in my Windows 11 (21H2 22000.1219 Build)  and MB 3.5.8347

To show:

     1) Minimise MusicBee to Mini Player

     2) Change focus to another program window (any but Edge or pdf viewer good example)

     3) Click on Pause button in Mini Player or forward/ backward

What happens:

For a fraction of a second the mini-player becomes "attached" to the mouse pointer.  If I do nothing it jumps a little, but most of the time I am working on another document and after clicking the button move my mouse quickly back to where I was typing half way across the screen.  Then the mini-player moves to that location on the screen!

Set up

I have it set up as Not docked, show in task bar and Always on Top.  However removing Always on Top does not stop this behaviour.

(Obviously docking it does).

So this is clear bug, but I guess it might be a windows issue rather than MB

Thx

Bug Reports / Re: Playlist Mixer Sometimes Keeps going forever
« on: November 08, 2022, 10:13:11 AM »
hmmm - in that case the bug would appear to be the 70% of the time that they stop dead after playing through without me doing anything else.

I will say that what you describe is what I as a user would assume it will do and that all sounds good, but I am having to restart manually most of the time - curiouser and curiouser!

27
How do I copy it - I can't select it in the podcast descriptor window and everywhere else it is truncated.

Thx

Bug Reports / Playlist Mixer Sometimes Keeps going forever
« on: November 08, 2022, 03:22:57 AM »
This is difficult to explain but does happen repeatedly, but not every time and I can't work out a sequence to guarantee it happens, but it feels like a bug of sorts...

I have created 4 Root lists using Playlist Mixer.  They simply select a dozen songs by genre randomly from my library (e.g. 1 is pop, 2 reggae, 3 classical etc

I have created a PodcastSelector Playlist Mixer.  This selects one random track from each Podcast Folder (I delete 'listened to' in some podcasts but not all)

I have created 4 Radio Lists using Playlist mixer.  They are constructed as:

Any Field is Not Null from RootX  TrackCount=2
Play Count is 0 from PodcastSelector TrackCount=1
Any Field is Not Null from RootX  TrackCount=2
Any Field is Not Null from LearnThaiPod  TrackCount=1
Any Field is Not Null from XmasMix  TrackCount=1  (increase this number as Xmas Approaches!)

This works really well for me and lets me change the roots at a single source but.

When I add the playlist to Play Last or Play Next the sofware does just that.

The inconsistency / bug is:

After playing the list, sometimes (maybe 30%) the list will keep loading a refreshed version and playing on - i.e. my radio stations become never ending.  When it is never ending, I mean literally - I can delete the now playing list and it reappears, I can clear everything 'Stop After Track' then play an album and at the end of the album the radio starts again.  Quitting Music Bee and restarting is the only way to stop it.

Most of the time that does not happen, and it simply plays through once!  I have tried very hard to work out what makes one behaviour happen and not another but cannot find a pattern.

I also tried selecting all the tracks within the mixer generated list and adding them en-masse, but again sometimes they stop sometimes they don't

I would actually quite like it to keep reloading the playlist - rather similar to autoDJ I guess, but I should be able to stop it.  Anyway, I think there is something wrong here in the seemingly random behaviour?

In the now playing window I have a track info panel to the right.  I have set this up to display comments as in <Episode Description> for podcasts because my language learning pod puts text in there to read.

The max row span tops out at (a rather strange) 33 rows...  Whilst I can enter any number no further rows are displayed.

If this number is deliberately limited if that row count would be better higher, or there is actually a bug?  The window scrolls ok if I make it small so it's not a scrolling issue.

that's the bug report...  (v3.5.8338)

but for context some other feedback on this issue

the episode description shows in full in the podcast window but only 255 characters in the tag editor, which is even worse!

I discovered this because the mouseover in now playing also displays the full episode description when i have that field in the main window, but it times out and closes even when my mouse is on the podcast.  That time out is 4 secs or so and isn't enough to read the text!

I also can't see any way to copy the entirety of the text to access it that way

Bug Reports / Cancel when editing playlist not working right
« on: October 16, 2022, 07:40:43 AM »
In a fit of sleepiness, I tried to reduce the track count number for a criterion in the edit playlist mixer window by clicking the little "-" sign to the right of the number text box.

Obviously this deleted the line totally - annoying because I took time building it.

Thinking all not lost I click Cancel followed by No to lose my changes.

But they were preserved and the criteria are no longer in the list.

So it appears Cancel is not doing what it should.

However, if I then Quit out of MB and relaunch, things are restored and the cancel button has indeed worked.

This is repeatable with changes of any sort.

It is a minor issue but clearly not quite right

Thx
