I have no experience with Theater Modes, but this works in Track Details. With the caveat that sometimes the formatting is a bit strange:

Not that this helps at all, but MusicBee 3.5 & 3.6 portable work perfectly well on my Win 8.1 machine. Can't tell you which version of .net it's running as I'm not currently at my machine at home.

If you check the link provided it shows the virtual tags the person uses, as Boom Boom stated just use those in place of the original tags that you need translation for.
I use them in the Tracks view in place of Title and Artist.

I'd also argue for more than 3 highlight slots.
Aren't there already more than three highlight slots, at least as far as I'm aware you can click the plus after the third row and a blank fourth row shows up.

Just point out and I'm sure you know, but you can use right-click > search > Locate in Windows Explorer before/after you edit the file(s). I'm not sure what purpose it would serve to do it while editing.

Not to make things even more confusing, but you can also create an auto-playlist of your preferred genre or if you wish all music with a rule of "playcount is 0".
You can then right-click on the playlist and select "Play Shuffled" when a track is played it's then removed from the playlist.
This is only for those who have no interest in play counts.

Here, take a look. I will be adding genres to this as just Hardcore isn't correct but it shows the semi-colons. Not that it should make any difference but I didn't use a virtual tag, just pasted your code a track information field.
