MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Add a Third header under the selected album

Where do you want this? The library view already does that.

I'm just curious as to the implementation MB uses, since it's better than anything else I've heard.

Questions / Re: Remove music note next to track titles?
« on: August 25, 2019, 03:42:48 AM »
It's an indicator that the file is in your Music Library (as opposed to the Audiobook Library, Inbox, etc).
Oh... Okay. Still not something I need.

For me it's only there for searches. I find it very useful.
Ah, so it is. Still seems useless. What do you find useful about it?

Questions / Remove music note next to track titles?
« on: August 24, 2019, 11:56:44 PM »
Not a big issue, but I'm assuming it's to signify that it's an audio file... but MB only plays audio files... Seems irrelevant. Would just look a bit nicer without the music not being repeated a few thousand times without giving any useful information.

I don't like any theater modes and they reduce usability,

I'm disappointed that no one seems to care about this.  :-\
It's basically the last thing that I want, but I guess more people like to have the super complicated library view with windows everywhere.

Don't dismiss Theatre Mode just yet - it can be tweaked to do almost everything you want.
The xml files can be edited in Notepad and the application of the 'code' is discussed in forums.
Any elements you don't like or need can simply be deleted.

It's really not that complicated, maybe you should give TM a chance!

Oh, theater mode. I guess I should say I don't like any of the default ones packaged with MB, or any I found at a quick glance here on the forum. My biggest issues are that most do artist or random pictures, and I don't think it easily lets me go back into the library.

I'm actually really happy with the default Now Playing tab, I'd just like to have a lyrics panel that isn't ugly and kills the theme.

I don't use Twitter. Does it only work for actual playlists? I very frequently just shuffle all artists or play albums while doing some other cleanup, and accidentally start another song.

38
Doesn't MusicBee have a star rating system? I've never understood the need for that. If I don't like an album I just don't keep it. All the music I have I like.

A better example of the "dynamic" background and text.

MusicBee Wishlist / "Floating" Lyrics and Artist Bio in Now Playing tab
« on: August 13, 2019, 04:32:19 AM »
I don't like any theater modes and they reduce usability, but I do like the floating panels. The current lyrics and artist bios only show up in panels which you have to go into a menu to enable/disable (Maybe make that just a right click enable left/right panel?) It also forces the spectrum visualizer to lose a lot of resolution and minimize into one of the side panels. Oh, and it also removes the "dynamic" background colors, which isn't very represented with my chosen album cover in the images.

My idea for a new one with floating panels would leave the spectrum visualizer alone and keep the dynamic background color. The spectrum visualizer already changes colors dynamically with each album cover as well, so the text for lyrics and bio could follow that same color scheme. The floating panels themselves in my picture are just a low opacity black to dim the background a bit. I suppose you could potentially add in some options to change opacity and colors there as well.

I'm using a built-in custom skin in the Dark-Metro series and the progress bar works perfectly fine.
Enlarging it only seems to bump its vertical size by a pixel though, so it really makes almost no difference.

Questions / About loudness normalization...
« on: August 07, 2019, 12:22:42 AM »
Does the normalise act dynamically in the track, or is it a simple gain boost? I have some older classic rock (and older albums in general) that are much quieter than newer digitally produced stuff, even stuff that isn't clipping to hell. This means that any time I set the music to shuffle the classics are always quiet and/or I have to keep adjusting the volume.

I'd prefer it to be a simple gain boost instead of killing the dynamic of the song, and I know there's a batch normalise, but I think that averages out everything, and I specifically only want it to boost the classic stuff.

Plugins / Re: Discogs Tagger
« on: August 06, 2019, 11:10:42 PM »
Just dropped it in my plugins folder and it seems to be working for me too.
Question, does it grab the instrument and artist information, or just the general release year, country, album name? I was going through my classical records and inputting the conductor and guest artist tags from Discogs.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: increase the allowed size of Album Artwork
« on: July 16, 2019, 12:00:08 AM »
The fact that you have artwork for your classical albums interests me. Most of mine are just generic Google images/paintings of Beethoven and Vivaldi.
Not that I'm against larger album covers, but it means you see less results per page, and I only use it as a quick reference to pick the album I want and then switch to Now Playing to see a large album cover.

I understand what you and JZStudios are saying, but wouldn't it be nice to even have a small classical library in perfect shape with displaying works and titles in a correct and pleasant way?
Mmm, in my case most of the... acts or suites or whatever are the album title, so throwing it in the song title just makes them longer. Otherwise they'e weird compilation albums where it might be useful, but Picard doesn't have them in the database anyways.
I get what you're talking about now and it makes sense but I don't listen to classical music enough or know all the symphonies. And then I'd still have to fiddle with all of the compilations or random symphony albums we got from.... somewhere? With no real information on them. I'm guessing it won't just take "Fur Elise" or "Ode to Joy" and input the symphony info.
It might help "organize" this in various artists though.

Frankly I'm more interested in getting the artist, composer, and conductor information in a quicker way than searching for the album on Discogs and manually transferring them over. Thankfully I don't have a large classical collection so I've already done it.
