Still no joy here.  i did download the latest patch file and copy it into my C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee folder.  MB now reports it is at 3.4.7747.  But nothing has changed.

I have never saved lyrics for any track before this week, starting with 3.4.7735.  Search Next Provider still works fine from the Track Details screen, but absolutely nothing happens when tried from the Now Playing tab.  I have turned save lyrics automatically both off and on in my testing.  Neither setting makes any difference on the Now Playing tab, but it does change what happens on the Track Details in the right sidebar of the main music tab.

When save automatically is on, every search for new lyrics must start with delete and redo search, where it stops on the first one found and then downloads the lyrics, thus there is no Search Next Provider; that option is not even available.  But if save lyrics automatically is OFF, then it works as expected as long as there are no saved lyrics for the track in question.

But again, on ALL of my computers, this ONLY works from the right sidebar on the main music tabs.  On the Now Playing tab, i can edit any displayed lyrics, or even mark the track as having no lyrics, but I cannot ever trigger a search for new lyrics on this screen.  I have four computers that all share a NAS-based library of music files, and one that shares nothing at all.  They all have this same problem.

Ouch, that hurt frankz.  Such public shaming demands that I either slink away and hide in shame, or do more testing in a feeble effort to defend myself.

While I am undoubtedly incompetent at many things, I never considered that Right Clicking was one of my abject failures.  And I will swear seven times on seven stacks of pancakes that what you described as "supremely uncomplicated" is EXACTLY what I tried the very first time I attempted to insert a screenshot yesterday.  And since I only use Firefox, I felt certain that something special there would be my saving grace.

So of course I rushed right out to re-test it today in order to "prove" that I wasn't really that dumb.  Can you see me slinking away in shame now?

Of course it works exactly as you describe - it is just that simple.  Even with Firefox.

Frankz, I have seen the same thing when save lyrics without asking is enabled in Preferences.  For Search Next Provider to work, even in the Track Details, I cannot have that option checked.

I agree with phred.  I initially tried to use multiple libraries for things like main music, christmas, children's stuff, etc., and it was not easy to manage.  After I figured out the filters, I couldn't even remember why I once thought I needed more than one library.

Genres are a big pain in the butt!  I have spent many many hours tagging my library in ways that make sense to me, but I still do not like many of the choices.  It would certainly be nice to be able to just download the genre tags from the web for everything (and you can), but I find them all stupid and confusing.  Just TOO MANY DIFFERENT GENRES USED that do not make any sense.

MusicBrainz uses things like "Art Rock" and "Classic Pop And Rock" that to me are just stupid.  My car uses Gracenote, and those fools actually show some individual songs on an album with totally different genres than all the OTHER songs on the same album (when there is truly no difference in the style of the music).  And to make matters much worse, if you ever want to play your music with something other than MB, like a phone app, DLNA server or car system, most apps and music players do not deal well at all with MULTIPLE genres assigned to the same track, and that makes it important to chose the right FIRST genre in the tag if you ever want to find your music again.

So if you cannot find a site that just uses only the genres that you like, then your only real option is to manually change the genres and genre groupings in MB and then start tagging all the songs the way you  want.  MB is very flexible in this regard, but I still do not know if something from Alannah Myles is Vocal, Adult Contemporary, Hard Rock, Pop, or "Aor" (another MusicBrainz wonder genre), or maybe even "Aor Classic Rock".  I would love it if someone could point me to a better solution to identify the BEST correct genres!  

I have looked up complete lists of genres on various internet sites, and they are simply mind-boggling.  Even with a list, someone still has to decide which ones to really use for consistency.

Yup, the problem I had is not with the "Insert Image" button at all, it was the incomplete link that the imgur.com site gives you (as noted in post #5 above).  So EITHER the instructions from post #3 or #5 work with that site.

OK, a bit more testing with the imgur site, and this DOES work with the "Insert Image" button here:

1.  Upload an image to imgur.com (I used the W10 screen snip tool).
2.  Hoover the mouse over the image now on imgur.com and click on the "Copy link" button.
3.  Back on this forum, click on the "Insert Image" button and past the link, but at the end of the pasted information ADD the file extension(".png" for me).  No other change is needed.
4.  Now when you click OK, the correct link will be inserted in your post to embed the image.

I do not know if things are different now than back in 2019, but my initial attempts to follow the first example (for the imgur site) did NOT work.  Copying the link from their page never had the right stuff.  

But what DID work is to click on the "..." button (next to their "Copy link" button), then select "Get share links".  Now just copy the "BBCode (Forums)" link shown on the Share Options window and paste it directly into a forum post here WITHOUT using any Insert Image function from this site.

Here is a screenshot of the Now Playing screen from 3.4.7735 (currently the most recent release on the "Latest Version" forum).  Right clicking on the lyrics displayed and selecting Search Next Provider most definitely does NOT work on my computers.  This should be the default layout for the Now Playing tab - I rarely use it and have never tried to change it.


Next, here is a shot of the main Music screen with the lyrics shown for track Details.  Right clicking on the lyrics here DOES work as expected; I have already done this, and the screen shot shows the new lyrics from the next provider.  And if I then go back to the Now Playing tab, it shows those new lyrics from the just-found next provider.


In addition to the "Next Provider" search not working from the Now Playing tab, if I go to that tab with no lyrics at all showing, then try to Right click and "Redo Search", that also DOES NOTHING.  But it works fine if I "Redo Search" from the track details view.

Although I too would like to be able to use MB on all devices, I have found ways to live with the limitations.  I keep my library on a NAS server with built-in DLNA.  When using my computers, I interface only through MB, but when I want to stream from the DLNA server on my portable devices, I use the Hi-Fi Cast app.

Running version 3.4.7735 with fresh download of LyricsReloaded plugin.

When track lyrics are displayed in the bottom right panel, I can Rt click on the lyrics and select "Search Next Provider", and it does as expected (finds lyrics in another available provider if they exist).  BUT, if I am looking at the lyrics in Now Playing, "Search Next Provider" does nothing at all. 

Other Rt. click functions on the lyrics in Now Playing do work (such as "Edit Displayed Lyrics"), so this problem seems specific just to the "Search Next Provider" function on the Now Playing screen and not to the plugin.  I have tested this on multiple computers, with both release 7735 and a previous release, and the results are completely repeatable.

I feel kinda like a dunce now, 'cause this whole thread just does not make any sense to me.  When I go to the "Latest Version" forum to look for updates, every file DOES have the version number in the name.  So I co not understand the complaint?  What more is being asked for than this (snipped from the most current download link):   /MusicBee_Setup_3_4_7735.zip?dl=1

This is an "Incremental update that includes all changes since version 3.3", so why look for anything else to get the latest version?  I always assumed that using those links was the best way to update MB.

Thanx for the replies.  I had no idea LyricsReloaded had an updated version - the outdated documentation I found said it had been abandoned in 2014.  I have that installed now, and it solved many of the missing lyrics (including those songs from .38 special).  Still can't find most songs by Ace, but I have learned a lot more about how MB does this now.

Questions / Where Does MB Look for Lyrics?

I have never paid attention to lyrics in MB, so this is a new subject for me.  I have done a search here, and although there are many posts about lyrics, nothing seems to really give me the basics.

Although many of the albums/songs in my library do show lyrics when played, many main-stream artists do not.  One example of something that really surprises me to not show lyrics is .38 Special, The sound of Your Voice, or Bone Against Steel.

I looked for the information in the MB Wiki, and it says that there are 4 included sources for lyrics:  ChartLyrics, LyricWiki, Gracenote, and LoloLyrics.
In the Preferences | Tags (2), under auto-tagging, lyrics:, I only see chartlyrics.com and LoloLyrics.  And even with just those two, I can manually find Bone Against Steel on chartlyrics, so why doesn't MB?

Have LyricWiki and Gracenote been dropped, or should I be looking somewhere else for this information?

I have found another very old thread (2017) with instructions for adding .yml files to the appdata folder, but I would like to understand what is going on before I just start following posts from that long ago.  Thanx

I am sorry if I confused the issue by trying to give too much info up front, so let me attempt to clarify.

I do NOT run MB in admin mode - I was just mentioning that I had installed it originally from a user account that did have admin permissions.

The problem I was asking about is that when MB is installed by one user on a computer, it is NOT made available to other user accounts on the same computer. Almost all of the applications that I install are automatically made available for all user accounts, but some apps give you the option during installation to install it for one user only, or everyone.   MB does not ask for this, and it seems to only allow for use by the account that originally installed it.

So what should I be doing if I want to use MB from multiple user accounts on the same computer?  Do I need to repeat the full installation from each different user account?
