Questions / Re: Creating a flash drive of mp3 songs for in car use
« on: July 26, 2020, 09:36:13 PM »
Yup - My library is mostly flac files - I have a playlist of tracks for the car which I maintain constantly - periodically I'll copy and convert the tracks in the playlist onto my SD card for the car player - it's a 2 second operation to initiate in MusicBee.

For managing cue sheets, the easiest thing is to use the file browser in Music Bee - navigate to the folder containing the flac file + cue sheet and MusicBee automatically displays the list of tracks which you can then drag into playlists etc.

Questions / Player access to tempo controls
« on: July 26, 2020, 09:27:13 PM »
At the moment if I want to mess around with the tempo of a track, I have to click on the equalizer to bring up the DSP Settings screen, from here I can tick Tempo Control which brings up a window on top of the DSP settings screen.

I know there's a very crude control if I right click on the player, that allows tempo altering in increments of 50%, but that's useless to me.

Is there any way, via kb shortcuts or otherwise to manage tempo changes more easily?

Questions / Re: Override display names for Tags

Ah is that a button at the bottom of the "New Custom Tag Definition Screen"

I am unable to view that button unfortunately - the screen extends beyond the bottom of my laptop display and there are no scroll bars.

Questions / Override display names for Tags
« on: February 27, 2020, 04:43:26 PM »
I use Traktor for DJing, but MusicBee for managing my music.

The problem is there are only effectively 3 fields for storing custom info that both MusicBee and Traktor can read.

These are Comment, MixArtist and Publisher.

All the other fields in Traktor are either occupied by important stuff - e.g.. Artist, Title or are Traktor ONLY fields, e.g. "Comment2"

MixArtist is not configured in MusicBee so I've configured a UserField (which I can call whatever I want) to write to this tag and I'm happy with this. Comment can stay as it is. What I'd like to do is rename the Publisher field in the GUI so that for example, if I wanted to put KeyText in this field, I could call it KeyText in the GUI in MusicBee although it would continue to be stored in the File under the Publisher Tag.

Is there a way of doing this?

Questions / Re: $Len issues

OK interestingly, after clicking enable and getting the error, my functions are now working, however, the additional tagging tools menu options are not available, so I guess part of the plugin is operational!

I looked in the plugin section in Preferences and it says the tagging plugin is disabled - I click enable and get error message - "Esception has been thrown by the target of an invocation"

HMm - that WAS installed. My Portable copy is the same copy I use on my Main PC and I copied it file for file to the laptop yesterday.
ON the PC everything works, on the laptop I notice that I don't have the additional tagging tools options available in the menus.

i've installed a number of different builds on the laptop in the last hour - currently running 3.3.7310 and I just downloaded and installed the latest additional tagging tools plugin, but it doesn't appear to be recognised.

What am I doing wrong??

THanks!

Sorry didn't fix the problem - didn't have time to investigate why until now - my formula also used the $Add function, which also appears to have been removed :(

Bug Reports / Re: Search box text selection issue
« on: January 30, 2020, 04:13:40 PM »
Double-clicking may work if I want to swap out a whole word - what if I just want to change a letter, or add to the text I've entered

e.g. I'm looking for "Eric Clopton" because I mis-typed and I try to swap the o for an a.

It actually takes 3 clicks - one to select the box, then another to unselect the text, then finally I can select the text i want to change. There is a small pause necessary between each click. May not sound like much effort, but when you're working through a hundred or more searches it actually works out easier to simply type out the full search again each time, rather than go through this triple click process.

Like I said, I doubt most people would be bothered by this, so I can't imagine it will be fixed soon  ;D but thought it worth raising in the hope that one day it may be :)

Note I'm a DJ and frequently get sent Spotify playlists that I go through to see which tracks I currently own and which I don't. Which is why I do a lot of searching!

Bug Reports / Search box text selection issue
« on: January 30, 2020, 09:25:01 AM »
This probably isn't going to be a biggy for most people, but it's quite annoying for me as I often perform over a hundred searches at a time.

It concerns partial selections of the text in the search box - e.g. using the mouse to highlight one word in the box and then overtype it
e.g. You may have searched for "Charlie Puth" and you want to highlight the word "Puth" and type "Wilson" so that you search for "Charlie Wilson" without needing to type "Charlie" again.

First of all this works perfectly if you DON'T change focus away from the search box.

But, if you type the first term "Charlie Puth" and then switch focus to the results - i.e. DO something to one of the tracks in the result list, and then try to modify the search text using the mouse, the instant you release the left mouse button (after selection), the whole box is highlighted.

You can work around this by first selecting the box (i.e click on it) which highlights the text, and THEN manually select only the text you want changing.

I suspect it's the Mouse-Up event that's firing, and selecting all text - be great if you could add a check in there that if the SelectedText property is already populated, that it isn't modified.

Questions / $Len issues
« on: December 23, 2019, 01:37:28 PM »
I use MusicBee Portable edition as I like to maintain my collection on multiple computers.

I created some Virtual Fields which worked fine on two of my computers, both running Win 7 x64 Pro, but I'm looking at my collection on a laptop running Win7 x64 Home Basic and the fields are all blank!

I've played around a bit with the Virtual fields and narrowed the issue down to the $Len function, which was never listed in the function selector in the template editor, but nevertheless works on my other 2 machines.

The windows version could be a red herring - the Home Basic laptop is also a new build.

Anyone any idea why $len isn't working?

Questions / Column display frustrations
« on: October 28, 2019, 01:37:25 AM »
OK- so I understand about playlist views - that you can configure a profile for them.

But in addition to playlists you have Search results and folder views - these don't appear to use profiles - or do they?
I feel like I'm forever editing the list of columns in one place, only to have to do it a number of other times.

How can I manage things so that everything uses the Default profile - i.e. the same list of columns in the same order, unless it's a playlist that I've set to use an alternate profile?

OK the following works a treat  :)

\b[A-Z]+(?!19\b)\d*\b;?

Thank you but it's actually the opposite I need because the MATCHED items are then replaced with empty strings!

"ABC17; ABC18; ABC19; XYZ19, ABC11"

Your expression gives me "ABC17; ABC18; ABC11"

When I want "ABC19; XYZ19" to be returned by the function.

According to my limited understanding of look ahead, all I should need to do to correct is swap the ?= for ?!, but then it matches ALL the items, returning an empty string.

Questions / Re: CustomTag Info
« on: October 26, 2019, 01:36:51 AM »
Thanks - I think I've found a potential solution, and that's to set up the contents of the custom tag, to allow for RegEx search and replace operations.

Tricky because I want to KEEP the values I filter and RxReplace is designed to remove the matched items leaving all the rest. I can get round that to some extent by using exclude matches, but that's limited to a single character I think - i.e. the example above - I can't match on "doesn't end in 19"  (at least I don't think I can!) I'd have to include something like an ! at the end of the value, and then match only values that DON'T end in ! for deletion.

e.g. In the example above,"ABC17; ABC18; ABC19; XYZ19"

 I can use $IsNull(<CustomTag>,"",$RxReplace(<CustomTag>,"[^;]*[^19];",""))

Which gives ABC19; XYZ19

However, if the tag contained "ABC17; ABC18; ABC19; XYZ19, ABC11"
Then it would give "ABC19; XYZ19; ABC11" since the [^19] means exclude EITHER 1 or 9, NOT the chars "19"

I think I'm going to have to learn how to use Lookahead in regex expressions (assuming MusicBee supports this)?

If anyone can show me how to match all the values that DON'T end in 19; in a list as such as follows, it would be appreciated
So far if my test expression is something like "abdefgh 19; yyyyyyy19; abcdeghj 18; xxx18; abcd"

I've got [^\d]*(?!19).{3};?\s?

Unfortunately, this matches ALL the items.
