Bug Reports / Re: MusicBee3 not responding
« on: January 22, 2016, 05:23:59 AM »
Update:
I renamed the corrupted settings file to MusicBeeSettings.ini. Then I opened v2.5 and the settings were there again.
Then I reinstalled v3 again. I think it's working. Maybe the first time the process of MusicBee was running on the back, with the program already closed and that can have caused the problem. I'll try to configure it.

The problem was probably something with the settings file - NEW BIGGER PROBLEM
All my settings are not working, however there's the file: "MusicBee3Settings_corrupted_20160122015522.ini"
Will it be possible for me to fix the file?
The settings in v2.5 have also been reset! Help.

The error is:

[Well, I have reinstalled in the same portable folder the previous version (2.5.5804).
The hotkeys work again.
I'm having a hard time trying to understand what you're doing.  V3 doesn't do anything to 2.5.  They should both exist in the same directory.  When you want to run v3, run MusicBee3.exe.  When you want to run v2, run MusicBee.exe.  If you're uninstalling 2.5 when you're installing 3 you're doing it incorrectly.  Again, leave them both in the same folder and run one or the other.

I did everything like you say here, the same directory. I did not uninstall or delete any file.
MusicBee3 freezes. It starts and immediately freezes with the mouse turning to the Windows wheel turning. When I click: "MusicBee does not respond. close the program/wait for the program to respond".

Did you follow the instruction for the install of v3? Make sure you unzip the MB3 files (all of them) into your current MB folder.  2.5 will continue to work because running v3 doesn't change anything in 2.5.

V3 should have no effect on 2.5's operation and more than likely is not the reason your hotkeys stopped working.

Bug Reports / MusicBee3 not responding
« on: January 22, 2016, 12:18:59 AM »
I have updated the portable 2.5 version to v3. MusicBee3 starts and freezes immediately (not responding). I'm running it in Windows 7.
The v2.5 still works fine (except the hotkeys that stopped working since the update), even with the mb3 still running (although v3 not responding).
Thanks for any help.

Questions / Re: Rescan album art option
« on: October 11, 2014, 01:28:34 PM »
1. Right click the toolbar (left to the search field, right to the tab) and chose configure toolbar
2. write "Rescan" or whatever you want in "button text or icon"
3. in "command", choose "General: Rescan file tags"

Now a button is created to rescan selected files (including artwork)

You can access this too on "Preferences->Layout(1)->main panel, toolbar buttons(edit)"

26
If a file already has the tag value that you will add, than it will stay with twice the tag value.

When editing lots of files MusicBee gets apparently broken, and it stays unresponsive. But it's working. Just wait and when the job is done MusicBee returns to its normal behaviour.

27
When you click the "+" in tag inspector what it does is to ADD a new tag
If you edit an existent tag instead of adding, then the edited tag will be changed and stored in all the files selected, even in those which didn't have the edited tag value.

Just to clarify: you assume this behaviour is also happening when selecting multiple files with different genre tag values? With me it doesn't.

Are you really opening "tag inspector" or just the "edit"?

28
In Tag inspector with the files selected press the button "+".
Could it be that this only works as long as all selected files have the same values as otherwise the genre field is empty upon adding a new genre. So, only the new value gets written into the field (at least this was the result of my test run).

When you click the "+" in tag inspector what it does is to ADD a new tag
If you edit an existent tag instead of adding, then the edited tag will be changed and stored in all the files selected, even in those which didn't have the edited tag value.

29
In the details panel, using the musicbee default layout, when double clicked the images open in their real size. How can I achieve the same behavior using custom layouts?

30
Example:

File A ? <composer> = x
File B ? <composer> = y
File C ? <composer> = x; y

*I want to add a common composer (z) to those 3 files.

Result
File A ? <composer> = x; z
File B ? <composer> = y; z
File C ? <composer> = x; y; z

I failed to do this. How does it work? you just add the genre by writing it into the tag field? I am looking for a way to retag my collection:

In Tag inspector with the files selected press the button "+".
Then insert the tag you want to add and beneath the value for the tag.
