yes, what you say makes sense. The other possibility is that for some reasons MB version 3.0.5995 does not write the rating to the file. I tried again just now. I gave the song 3 stars, then Tools->Advanced>Synchronize Tags, but the song still shows no rating in both Windows Explorer and Tag&Rename

hello everyone, i am having a strange issue, which i hope i can describe it in a way which makes sense.

1) i have 2 MB portable installations in 2 different HD. i) HD1 has an 'old' MB version (3.0.5995) and ii) HD2 has a new MB version (3.5.8249 P). Both HDs have the same music files which I copied from HD1 to HD2.

2) some .m4a songs show their rating in the 'old' MB, but not in the 'new' one.

3) in Windows Explorer i cannot see the rating of these songs, either in HD1 or HD2

4) Tag&Rename also cannot see the rating either in HD1 or HD2

my first thought was that maybe i had forgotten to synchronize the tags in the 'old' MB before copying them across to the new HD, but i checked that now and that is not the issue.

any suggestion on what else i could check?

a likely silly question: I am not sure what "unzip (to the music folder MusicBee is installed for portable versions) and then run" means. My portable version is on an external drive (T). Where should i unzip to? T? T:\MusicBee?

hello everyone, i have a new laptop running Windows 11. I am using MusicBee Portable version 3.4.8033 P. When i try to copy some songs to the local 'C: drive (using 'Send To -> Folder (Copy) -> Copy File to Folder') i see only the Desktop and i am unable to choose any other folder.

I checked the forum and i found some advice about Folder Management and Showing all or Filtered Folders and Sub-folders. I tried that but it does not seem to help.

does anyone have any suggestion?

sorry, maybe i did not explain myself correctly. the problem occurred on a portable version, on an external driver, which i tried to play on 2 different PCs. so we are talking about a single installation.

It worked. I copied a bassmix.dll file from a musicbee backup in another drive.

I am a bit embarrassed because i release i should have worked that out myself from the error log, i just did not think of replacing the file.

MB version: 3.4.7967 P
It happened on 2 computers, one after the other.
no update on MB,
however, now that you ask, i think that Windows updated last night on both computers (Good catch!). When i tried to play music on MusicBee, it has not worked since. other players (VLC) work fine.

Hello, suddenly MB stopped playing any track. It gives the error "an unexpected error occurred. Type initializer for '#=zj6ro15_1frBi' threw an exception". I have read some previous posts on what appear to be similar issues, but 'bass.dll', 'bass_fx.dll' and others files with similar names are in the MusicBee folder.  would have any suggestion on what i should do next?

it works! my mistake was that i had not deleted the .bak file when i (badly) followed Steven's advice

no luck. i have just tried it. I have now realised that MB is running, since i see it in the task manager, but i can't see the software interface
