Questions / Need help after using "Reset Artwork Cache" tool.
« on: April 03, 2016, 09:35:58 AM »
I selected the reset, now there are no artists thumbs in the browser and only the album covers are displayed. I figured MB would auto-redownload the thumbs as it did with the initial install, but I guess not. So in the downloader it shows the images as already downloaded along with a current picture, however they aren't displayed in the thumb browser. Does this mean I have to manually enter each artist into the browser?

MusicBee Wishlist / iTunes podcast tagging option
« on: April 03, 2016, 07:40:02 AM »
I would like to see a checkbox under the podcasts heading:  "[ ] make podcasts compatible with iTunes".  If this option was checked, MB would make the following 3 changes for all tracks in the podcast library:

-create an ITUNES PODCAST [PCST] tag, with a value of 1.

-copy the value from ORIGIN [WOAS] into a new tag called ITUNES SUBSCRIPTION [WFED].

-convert the EPISODE DATE [TDRL] value into the format yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.

Tracks within the MB podcast library would then be fully compatible with the iTunes library.

Questions / Virtual tag for album year with multiple values
« on: April 02, 2016, 06:08:09 PM »
Might any of you tagging geniuses have an idea how to create a year tag that would display multiple years as year(lowest) - year(highest)? So with an album that has tracks with years 1995,1996,1999,2004,2005 and 2006 - the tag would read 1995-2006. This would only happen if the tracks have different years. Thoughts?

I'm beginning to think that MB does not take kindly to those who try to organize tracks by episode date. Any thoughts on why this might be happening? Seems to work ok in artist view but not album covers view (which I find extremely odd considering artists view has disabled all options in the sort menu, and is locked on album artist/album). In the screenshot you can see the track order is mixed, seemingly at random:

I have unchecked the "hide for playlists option". Also, "hide left main panel" in the panel configuration is unchecked. I don't need it for all playlists, just the really long ones. I thought I could control this with the panel config but that doesn't seem to be working.

Questions / Organizing artists from compilations
« on: March 30, 2016, 11:41:40 PM »
I generally view my music library using the thumbnail browser to navigate by album artist. I don't normally navigate by artist because it includes all the countless (often single) artists that appear in compilations. Considering this, is there a way to display compilation tracks together with the other albums of the same artist (if they exist)? Also, I don't want to completely remove that track from the compilation.

Questions / Problem sorting playlist
« on: March 30, 2016, 05:59:43 AM »
For some reason I have one file which doesn't sort properly (it just sits at the top of the list). This is for a playlist sorted by Episode Date (which I renamed to Release Date:Time). I've checked the tag and it's no different from any of the others in the playlist. Any ides why this might happen?

EDIT: I should add that this happens no matter what date I enter for this field. MB won't sort this one file by Episode Date. Oddly when I sort by Release Date (a custom tag with the time trimmed off) there's no problem.

MusicBee Wishlist / Collapsable Folders in the Playlist Manager
« on: March 30, 2016, 01:37:09 AM »
I'm not a fan of the forced folder expansion. It would be nice to be able to collapse them (as we do in the navigation bar), I feel this is a large reason why we organize files into folders, and it would make the manager much less crowded.

I'm asking for some help here because I suck at this. The MB date/time standard appears to be mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM(or PM). I need some help to convert that to the standard yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ . So, my date tag that looks like this: 2016-03-25T17:52:00Z is automatically re-written by MB to display this: 3/25/2016 12:52 PM.

-Is it possible that MB is somehow determining my time zone? Why else would it not convert the time to 5:52 PM? I don't remember entering this info at any point. I'm at GMT-6 but use a VPN so that might be the cause?

-I would also like to create a second tag which cuts out the time display (yyyy-mm-dd), but I think I can handle that if I can get some help with the full conversion. Also if the full date/time conversion is too complex, I could be satisfied with just the date.

-Unfortunately MB automatically re-writes all of these tags. I can generally avoid this as long as I don't ever save any changes in the tag editor, but I seem to forget often enough and it really sucks when it happens (adding cover art to a single podcast can result in hundreds of my files being rewritten). So besides the display purpose, it'd be nice to have this script to convert the tags back when this happens. Also, I use the yyy-mm-dd template for naming/organizing my podcast files so I can't use MB's naming template until I have this figured.

Anyway, I have no idea where to even begin with this, so your help here would be very much appreciated.

EDIT: I should also add that another part of the reason I need to keep this format for the date/time tags is because I still need to use itunes for podcasts. Itunes does not read tags in the MB format and will not organize them

MB is no longer remembering the panel settings (which panels to hide) for any of my custom track views. This used to work perfectly. Now it remembers for the session, but once I restart MB it reverts back to displaying all the panels that should be hidden. Here's a .gif where I change the settings, restart and the settings revert:

Questions / Setting picture sizes for artwork views
« on: March 23, 2016, 09:25:11 PM »
Is it possible to display different picture sizes (the slider button setting) for different views? Specifically, can the default album cover view display a different picture size than the default artist view? Can custom views remember the picture size? Or does MB only accept one picture size across all views, default or custom?

Questions / Different views for different playlist and filters.
« on: March 21, 2016, 10:17:06 PM »
In the wikia it states: " Filters will use the Music view, unless they are explicitly configured with a different view in their settings. Auto-Playlists retain their own views; Static Playlists all share the same view by default but can be configured to have different views."

Is this still possible when navigating within a tab? The different views are remembered when switching between music, audiobooks, playlist etc.., but any time I change a playlist view, they all change (auto and static). Same with filters. What am I missing?

Questions / Paste artwork in thumbnail browser is always disabled.
« on: March 21, 2016, 04:05:42 AM »
I cannot figure out how to do this. How do you change the art thumbs in the thumb browser? I thought it was as simple as pasting the file there, but the option in the menu is always greyed-out/disabled. Is this even possible? Or do I have to manually place the file in the artist thums folder and rename it? I think I'm losing it!

EDIT: Ok, I figured out to paste the artwork in the main panel in artwork view. So what's the purpose of having the option in the thumb browser menu? Should it be working? Also, how then do you paste genre artwork?

And for some reason no matter how many times I paste in the thumb art for compilations, it does not display in the thumb browser. It displays in the artist view, but the thumbnail browser continues to display the unknown artist pic. Thoughts?

MusicBee Wishlist / Now Playing Sidebar Elements
« on: March 20, 2016, 10:07:33 PM »
Would it be possible to add Playing Tracks to the list of available elements in the Now Playing sidebar (Theater Mode)? I'm so happy with the sidebar configuration for the other nodes that I would love to bring that into the NP sidebar. Obviously not a priority/neccessity, but I thought it'd be nice.:)

Questions / AlbumCovers Storage
« on: March 20, 2016, 08:37:42 PM »
I realize this is a dumb question, but I was just wondering why MB needs to store all the album cover art in a local folder. When I select the artwork I always check "link to a an organized copy", and I thought that meant that it was linked to the original file. Also, if the file is removed from the original location it seems MB no longer has access to it. Would someone mind providing a brief explanation how this works? Thanks.

EDIT: Also, why are there 2 artist pictures folders? MusicBee\Library\Artist Pictures\Thumb & MusicBee\AppData\InternalCache\ArtistThumbs
Seems like a waste of space, no?
