I am not fully happy with any of the suggested mockups but this is probably the suggestion i am most in agreement with.
Or perhaps using the color of the expanded panel as per hickup's original suggestion but keep the arrow and apply some extra contrast to the selection box so it stands out a little?
Any further comments?

Two options: blur out, and dim/alpha out elements other than the opened album? With a slider for each to choose the intensity.

Bug Reports / Renaming playlist errors
« on: April 18, 2017, 06:07:27 PM »
Hi Steven.
I have a playlist called "Samsung Galaxy Note 7" under folder "Samsung Galaxy Note 7" in left panel, that I use to sync with my Note 7. I'm switching device and renamed the folder without any problem to "Samsung Galaxy S8+", but when I rename the playlist in that folder to "Samsung Galaxy S8+" I get these errors:

The playlist renames fine after that, but when I reopen MusicBee, it's back to its original name.

Plugins / Re: Music Scheduler

Decided to try it again and when I press Apply/OK, MusicBee freezes, I have to kill it. Using latest 3.1 patch.

19
Did you ever figure this out? It doesn't seem to work for me either.

Just tested it with the latest 3.1 patch and it's working now.

MusicBee Wishlist / Radio: Relative path for artwork
« on: March 27, 2017, 06:29:55 PM »
The only way to assign artwork to radio stations is by linking to the file.

I'd like to request the ability to use relative path for portable installations of MusicBee.

Perhaps the ability to edit the path and change it to something like %musicbee%\Radio\CHOI Radio X.png (in my case)

I don't know if it's normal, but when I mouse over the taskbar preview of MusicBee, it makes MusicBee flicker. Not a big deal, really, but I thought I'd report it in case it could be easily fixed.

Questions / Re: Thumbnail for Various Artists
« on: March 27, 2017, 05:22:32 PM »
I've had "Various Artists.jpg" in the \Artist Pictures\Thumb folder since day one and it never showed.

EDIT:
Did some testing and it's showing now. Added VA.jpg to the \Thumb folder. Also, there's another \Thumb folder inside my \Thumb folder and placed Various Artists.jpg in it.

I don't know why there's another Thumb folder in my Thumb folder but it looks like MusicBee stores the missing artist pictures in that folder instead of the \Thumb one where I store all the other ones that I've manually added. Thousands of them.

I'd like to know too.
I've always had my own "Various Artists.png" in \AppData\InternalCache\ArtistThumbs and MusicBee never picked it up.

+1

I'm really close to have my microSD card full and will have to expand on my phone's internal storage.

I like the Status Bar where it is and would not want to give up additional screen space for that info to appear in a separate panel which, IMO, would be a waste of space. As it appears now, it takes up one line which is just perfect.

You would still able to have it exactly the way it is now. With more options and the ability to move it around.

26
All good now! Thanks

27
The status bar, as it is called, is a UI element that is not really necessary with MusicBee and could really just be a panel of its own.
So I suggest we get rid of the status bar and make it a more configurable panel of its own. One that can be placed anywhere, not only at the bottom.
It's mostly empty space with very little information that takes little space on the Y axis, but still requires 100% on the X axis.

In my case, the only element I need from the status bar is the progress information on the left when I sync with a device or rescan my library.

The few elements we have in the status bar right now could actually have their own variables. Playlist duration, queue time, etc, are hardcoded but could be variables. That way, we could use them in other panels, or custom tags.

As for the sync/scan progress element, it'd be nice to have a live progression of what it's doing, in %, or the working directory+file.

28
Thanks, but it's still acting weird.
Using the mouse, when you click on the menu, it opens. Once opened, when you click again it should close but instead it closes and reopen right away.
Same behavior using the ALT key.

29
For the next v3.1 update, i have added an extra choice on the device sync settings Playlist format: "Don't Save"
so it applies to all playlists synched to that device

Or what about adding an extra "Send playlist file" checkbox column in the device properties / Music tab / "synchronise playlists"? That way we could choose which playlist files to send.

30
Using the lastest 3.1 patch version (3.1.6286), when you press ALT, the application menu opens right away. I believe the normal behaviour should be the menu to open on press release and not simply on press.
Keeping the ALT key pressed results in the menu opening/closing/opening/closing/opening/etc... really fast.
Using ALT+TAB results in MusicBee menu staying opened.
