Pulled up Tracks view and got this error message. Also occurs when switching to Artist view.

Music explorer is beautiful :D

One downside of it imo is is you can't use it as a stand alone layout, you need to first play an artist and then refresh it. (in another tab). Maybe integrate artist view and music explorer into each other? Love it though and it can only get better.

Also how does it know what similar artists are in your library? Does it get it from the internet or from tags? It doesn't seem reliable.

+1, I would love to be able to use music explorer with any artist at any time.
just type the artist name in the search box
whataya know

Quote
- when any panel is sorted by Year, or the Album Covers panel is grouped by Year or Decade, then the A-Z bar changes to show decades

Could this be broadened to include any field with the Date type, including Custom and Virtual tags?
yes thats done for the next update
wow!

Just a tidbit for consideration...In Artist view, what about the option to skip the display of albums after picking an artist and go straight to the display of the tracks (all albums combined)?

didn't think grouping by first letter would be such a big deal...that is fantastic and resizing of pics with track bar (is that new or just me?) and A-Z bar with decades...how much better can it get!!!!

Hi, I had a good setup on my old install using the 3.0 stuff, but i lost it and now I am starting fresh. I installed the new 3.0 beta and I don't know how to get the main view back where its the 3 columns with genre, artist, and album on top, then in the panel below are the songs, like I used to have. Can someone tell me what to do?

Thanks,
Davis
Try File | View | Arrange Panels and drag "column browser" to the list under "main panel" if it's not already there.  that should give you the 3 columns on the main panel.  you might also want to backup pertinent information (which may vary depending on your system) such as:
c:\users\...\music\musicbee\*
c:\users\...\appdata\roaming\musicbee\*
c:\program files (x86)\musicbee\*

I've always used MB almost exclusively on the 2nd monitor.  Never a problem.
I have no problems using v3 on my 2nd monitor.  Can you be more specific as to what's not working correctly?
????

I tried v3.0 and it works fine.  The only thing I noticed is that it will not dock on my second monitor.  2.5 would do this and it's kind of a deal breaker for me.  Is that possibly an easy fix?  Not sure.  Other than that I love the new GUI.

What do you mean by dock? I have no problems with 3.0 on a second monitor.

Questions / Sequential number prefix
« on: February 28, 2016, 09:17:24 PM »
Just want to confirm (because I don't know if I did something that causes the difference in behavior)...

Send To | Folder (Copy) | Copy Files to Folder...

The filename is prefixed with a sequencial number if the source is a playlist but if the source is a filter, the filename is unchanged (no sequential number).  I don't see anything related to this when editing a playlist or filter but I'm guessing at why the behavior is different for the copy.  Can someone confirm please?

Sorry about the confusion. In Preferences | Sorting/Grouping under Grouping...I have "the following fields define an album" checked. Position 1 is blank and position 2 is locked in at Album Name and the rest are blank.  "detect iTunes compilation and treat as Album Artist" is unchecked.  Appreciate the help.

Right after sending this post, I selected "Album Name" for position 1 (the only allowed pick) instead of leaving it blank.  That fixed the Album and Tracks view, separating the tracks between the 2 artists.  Maybe position 1 should not be allowed to be blank or clear position 2 if position 1 is Album Name.  But position 1 can only be blank or Album Name so why lock position 2 with Album Name?  Weird but it's good now.

Oh I don't use any Grouping.  Plus this is Album and Tracks view.  Grouping is not a user option which makes sense since grouping needs to be forced with artist and album.

Got this error while configuring an ipod to synchronize with a single playlist.  First time I've tried setting up the ipod in MB.  When I tried to go back and duplicate the error I couldn't but thought I'd post the message should you find it helpful.

When hovering mouse over a playlist, the tooltip from the "description" of the playlist no longer displays as it did in v2.5.
