This functionality would address a number of storage/display requirements for different album formats. would be a tremendous help in grouping albums for display and de-clutter the Albums Covers view.

Questions / Re: how to handle boxsets

Thanks Critterman, very interesting.
I also have differnet versions of the same album either format (e.g. MP3, FLAC, AAC, etc) and different editions (original, anniversary, expanded, etc). I would certainly like to see a display of the "master" album cover, and when clicked it opens up to show the various versions with covers.
A lot of excellent ideas. Have any of them been introduced, or likely to be introduced?

Using https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=11990.0 I have set up the subtitles, but the individual covers are still not available. Don't know if that can be done.

Another issue within boxsets is when one of the discs is a DVD, and I've seen some of the various posts re this is a music library. No issues with that.
This has probably been suggested before, but ..
In order to at least identify that a DVD or video file is part of the boxset I have set up a dummy FLAC file showing metadata to identify the video file.
For example, Paul Simon's Live In New York City has 2xCDs and 1xDVD. I have the CDs as disc 1 of 3 and 2 of 3, and the dummy FLAC as disc 3/3. The dummy FLAC shows the same album title as the CDs, but has "Live In New York City DVD" as the track title. So in the main panel showing album covers, I click on the album cover, I see three discs for this album. If I right click on the track in Disc3, and then search Windows Explorer I get to the actual MP4 file (or shortcut), and can play it.

Questions / how to handle boxsets
« on: November 06, 2017, 11:47:51 PM »
I have various box sets which have a boxset title and have individual album titles in the set. I want to display the album cover of the boxset, and when I click on the cover it opens up the individual albums.
For example, I have an ABBA boxset called "The Albums" included are the studio ablums with their individual covers. I also have an ABBA Greatest Hits album.
If I select ABBA I want to see the album covers of the GH album and the boxset cover for "The Albums. Then when I click on the "The Albums" cover it displays the individual covers and the tracks for the individual albums.
Can anyne explain how I can do this.
Thank you.

my final question was about filters.
I've looked at wiki, and was about to try, but I can't find anywhere to set up the Filter.

Working fine.

Thank you redwing. That worked great!

I used your example AA Sort as the name, and tried bulk copy.
Installed Additional Tagging Tools, and I'm assuming that the "copy tag" function is the bulk copy.
Selected 3 albums
Chose Main Menu/Tools/Additional Tagging Tools/Copy Tag
The field "copy tag" is a drop down with AA Sort in the list, and I selected that.
The field "to tag" has a drop down but SORT ALBUM ARTIST is not on the dropdown list.
Am I using the correct copy function?

I added the flac album/files to Musicbee, and edited 1 track changing the Album Artist sort as to Smith, John. The results from Tag Inspector are as follows ...

Name                            Tag Code            Value

ALBUM                           ALBUM                       After Midnight: The Complete Sessions
ALBUM ARTIST                ALBUMARTIST              Nat King Cole
ALBUM ARTIST SORT        Album Artist Sort         Cole, Nat King
ARTIST                          ARTIST                      Nat King Cole
GENRE                           GENRE                       Jazz
SORT ALBUM ARTIST        ALBUMARTISTSORT      Smith, John
TITLE                            TITLE                        Route 66

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, not being familiar with MusicBee, the description of associating the FLAC Album Artist Sort with MusicBee's Sort Album Artist within Wiki is not clear.
Can you possibly give me step by step instructions.
Many thanks.

Questions / FLAC tage not recognised
« on: October 26, 2017, 04:57:51 PM »
Added various file types to MusicBee, and have a few issues with sort display.

1) All CDs originally ripped to FLAC by dbpoweramp and tags maintained in FOOBAR2000 (including user created tags). When the albums are added to MusicBee the tag ALBUM ARTIST SORT is not recognised. So I am unable to sort by Surname, Firstname.
When I convert the same files to MP3, MusicBee seems to associate ALBUM ARTIST SORT with Sort Album Artist. All original purchased MP3s or AACs sort correctly.

2) I want to have one Library, but filter out file types e.g. MP3, AAC, FLAC 16-bit, FLAC 24-bit. For example, in FOOBAR2000 I have a user created tag called 24-Bit value Y which is used to filter and show only 24-Bit FLAC
is there a way to filter by File Type.

3) Finally, can I set up my custom tags in MusicBee

Thank you
