Questions / Re: "All Artist" Entry Missing
« on: August 31, 2019, 08:51:29 PM »
Thanks!  That was the problem.  What confused me is that the "Music" tab isn't shown by default.

For anyone interested in this issue I've added another image that shows the "All Artists" link.  As far as I can determine that is used to set the "Library Reports" tool to output all library entries:

Ignore the comment about the links.  When I was inputting them the string was strangely complex.  Once posted they appear fine.  I suppose the input operation involves some sort of markup language boilerplate.

Thanks for the link.  Following are a couple of images:

https://imgur.com/GPQ4QF2
https://imgur.com/OyJNEvO

I don't understand why the link is showing up this way.  I posted a simple URL into the Link option and it appears to insert the URL twice with extraneous characters.  In any case, I hope you can get to the images as given.

Also, I appreciate the comments but I'm reasonably certain that there was an option to select all artists.  I could certainly be wrong, however, as I'm just getting around to using MusicBee and it's somewhat overwhelming.

Perhaps if I explain what I did would help.  I was trying to export a list of the albums.  I saw a forum entry advising that a plugin, "Additional Tagging and Reporting Tools" would provide that capability.  I added the plugin and the "Library Report" option appeared to be what I needed.  The report, however, only showed the selected album in the "Artist" list in the "Music Explorer" window.  When I selected the "All Artists" option (now missing) I was able to get a complete list.  That's actually occurred (not my imagination) and I specifically recall choosing the "All Artists" option.

Somehow, in the middle of exploring the reporting functionality I lost the "All Artists" option.  Perhaps I was in a different window but, again, I haven't been able to find an "All Artists" option regardless of what view I choose.  I fully realize that this is almost certainly operator error but I'm lost at this point.  I also haven't been able to figure out how to select all artists (albums) within the reporting tool but it does occur to me that's probably where it should be specified.

In the Music Explorer window there was an entry titled "All Artists".  Now it's gone.  I have no idea what happened.  I would appreciate any help as I'm trying to export a library list and I need to select all the albums.

I have an image showing the problem but I don't know how to link it to a URL.

Thanks,

Wayne

All,

I'll try to provide answers to the various questions.  If I've overlooked anything let me know.

In addition I've uploaded some images that I think are representative of what has been requested:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/8252671@N07/45133309855/in/dateposted-friend/

I've given up on the Group (Album) idea for now.  I'm just not familiar enough with posting images to the cloud at this point.  Life would be much simpler if I could just post them directly on the forum.  In any case psychoadept asked about deleting.  I can delete files directly.

Following is the latest:

1.  I have two libraries shown for MusicBee, as I believe one of the images shows.  I recall when I first started ripping MusicBee prompted me for a directory.  I added it not realizing that there was already a default library.  Now I have "Ripped" folders showing up in two directories:

C:\Users\wland\Music\MusicBee
C:\Users\wland\Music\MusicBee Library

I have several albums in each folder and there doesn't appear to be any problem with them.  I don't view this as a major issue, though eventually I'd like to get everything into one default library.  Another problem for another day.  If you see that as an issue, please let me know.

2.  I cleared the album out and confirmed that it was deleted from the "MusicBee Library" folder.  I then tried to rip the CD again.  This time my PC had problems reading the disc.  The problem was strange enough that it appears that the CD may be an issue despite the fact that it appeared to be fine up till this point.  I closed out of MusicBee and started over and it ripped the CD to FLAC but gave me a "rip did not accurately match" error, as shown in one of the posted images.  Despite that the CD is showing up in the directory and is playing with no apparent issue.

3.  In sum, I think the settings are probably OK.  I don't recall changing anything from the default other than MP3 to FLAC and checking "validate rips using accurate rip" per a previous recommendation.  My sense is that the CD is the issue.  I will try ripping it with other software to see what happens.  I may also try ripping it with MusicBee again, depending on what I find with the other attempts.

If I learn anything that may be useful I'll add it to these posts.  In the interim, thanks much to all of you have contributed.

OK - I've done that several times.

Then when I try to rip the CD again MusicBee (MB) loads the songs almost instantaneously and, as I noted earlier, the files are clearly not FLAC, or any playable format for that matter.

It seems that MB has a record showing that the CD has been ripped, won't rip it again and just repopulates information it already has on file.  Am I making any sense?

Also, are you able to access the screenshots using the links I provided?

Steven,

I'm  using 3.2.6827.

I'll use your comments to see if I have better results.

In the interim, is your note confirmation that you are not able to reach the images on Flickr?

Also, the only way I've seen to delete a file (song) is to right click on it and the only options given are to remove it from the library or the library and computer.  I don't see an option to permanently delete.

While on the topic I find it difficult to believe that I can't simply select an album and delete it.  Isn't there a way to do that rather than having to select songs and delete via right click?

Thanks again for the clarification.  I don't see any way to get a link that shows as a "jpeg", etc.

When I click on the link in the earlier post (https://flic.kr/g/GvPMi) it takes me directly to the Flickr Group ("musicbee issue") and the three images are there.  I can also copy and paste it into the URL block and it brings me to the images, as well.  I suppose that permissions might be a problem but I set the group up with as open ended an option as was offered.

In any case, following are links (again without "jpeg", etc.) to the images, not the group:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/8252671@N07/44215053060/in/dateposted-friend/

If you know of a better alternative than Flickr, please let me know.

I don't see the image link showing up in my previous post.

The URL that I posted into the "Insert Image" is flic.kr/g/GvPMi.  I've posted it in this message as well but I don't know why it would show up here but not in the previous post.

OK.  Thanks for the clarification.  I'm not familiar with sharing images that way, so bear with me if I completely screw this up.

https://flic.kr/g/GvPMi

There should be 3 images available.

Thanks for the response and link to the wiki.

By the way, as far as I can recall I didn't change any defaults except from MP3 to FLAC.  I'm not certain of that as I may have changed something while trying to figure out how to delete the album, but I don't think that I did.

I have images of the screens but I don't see any way to forward them with this post.  There doesn't appear to be an "Attach File" option.  The "Insert Image" option prompts for an URL, which I would not have for an image on my PC.  I tried copying and pasting but the paste option doesn't show up inside the message.  "Crtl C/V" doesn't work either.

I'm sure this is user error but I just don't see an option for including the images.  Do I have to copy the images to someplace on the web in order to link to them?

Questions / Trying to Remove an Album and Reload it
« on: November 23, 2018, 06:33:12 PM »
I'm just beginning with MusicBee (MB) and I'm totally confused.

I ripped a CD thinking that it was set to FLAC and discovered that somehow the setting was, in fact, MP3.  How that happened is another issue.

For my immediate problem, I looked around in MB and couldn't find any options for deleting an album.  So, I deleted the album in the MB music folder and tried ripping it again.

MB showed that it was ripping to FLAC but clearly was not as it loaded every song almost instantly.  The files in the MB music directory don't show anywhere near the correct bit rates, etc.  In addition, the songs are showing up with the correct length but don't play so that confirms, probably, that the songs were not actually ripped.

So, again I tried finding a way to delete the album from within MB.  I discovered that I could highlight the song list, right click and delete them.  I tried ripping again with the same result.

It seems that MB has "logged" the album as ripped and simply won't re-rip it no matter what I do and I simply can't find an effective means for clearing the album out of MB's records.  As I said earlier, I'm completely lost at this point.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
