Questions / importing files from usb
« on: August 26, 2017, 12:20:45 AM »
Trying to rephrase this for help. All other vs of windows prior to win10, all I did was click on import files and it loaded them into musicbee just as they were set up on the pc or from the usb. Now it catagorizes them into grouping, artist album, etc. Is there a way to keep the same organization I have them set up originally, call them playlists as it were. In other words, I had all my music divided into lists where i could just click on a folder and the songs I wanted to listen to are in that particular folder. XP. win7 both allowed musicbee to load these folders just as they were copied into it exactly. Now it seems a setting has changed on importing the files where they don't stay in my original playlists, but are separated into albums, artists or so on. I've tried all the settings in musicbee to try and get the original set up back but can't seem to make it happen. I noticed there are options for custom tags and virtual tags. Is this the only way to recreate my original playlists? Perhaps there is a way to import them that has changed in win10 to keep the original folder set up the same? Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help

Questions / thoroughly confused with win10 vs
« on: August 15, 2017, 10:31:07 PM »
When load files from source, it auto categorizes them into a # format separating files from original folder set up at source. Ex. my first page came up all # 6s. Naturally with cds there are going to be a lot of these. How do I re-catorgize them or load them to come out the same way as they come in from the source. The past versions were no problem, I would scan for files and they would copy them exactly as they were set up from the source. Now, using the same procedure, the program separates them the way it likes instead of how they were. I've tried numerous times to solve this dilemma but am making no progress. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Figuring it's just a setting but I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks.  Seefids

Questions / thoroughly confused with win10 vs
« on: August 15, 2017, 10:16:33 PM »
I've finally have all my files loaded by musicbee, but instead of coming up in same format (folder set up) that it was copied from it generically listed them by #. All previous vs just loaded files exactly same as from source, not sure how this has changed. Source has all cd's and separate folders all organized way I wanted them, but I can't seem to figure out how to load the files in the same exact format as from source. Ex: when loaded over 8k files it separated them buy #, so my first page came up all # 6s. Bear in mind, one of these folders is numerous cds, but it separated all the songs taking them from their original folders and dividing them up and separating them from their original folders. With over 8k files, I have no chance of going thru each page and trying to make playlists. Playlists were already set up by the folder designations. I have no idea what has changed or how to get the files to load or reorganize to equal the original source set up. Can anyone help?

thanks in advance for any adivce

Have screen shot and a file to send, but can't figure out how to attach it to this reply. Do I send it email and if so to where?

Zipping file w/ winzip21 only reduces size by 1% so...

Thank all again for any help.

not sure what you want me to send you, it found 1621 files, but lists them as track 1 - whatever with no artist name or title, just a #. I've had your program on my last 2 pcs with win7 and xp. It only did this once before but I was able to fix it with a setting somewhere, but it was years ago and I can't remember how to do it. Funny thing is last system I installed it and over 5k songs, most not on cds and it found them all and posted them exactly as they are show in windows explorer with all my folders and sub-folders perfectly, it was fantastic, but after a 1 1/2 years I had to get a new laptop and this time no such luck. I haven't loaded the non-cd music yet. I figure if it's not recognizing the titles and artists on the cds, it's most certainly not going to do so with the others.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. By the way, it's not separating tracks into folders or anything, so I have 30 or so of #1 tracks listed in the middle column straight down and so on to #2, etc...
I don't know if that helps or not. I'm on win10 now and not familiar with it and I'm wondering if it's a setting somewhere in there that's preventing it from being my default media and not letting it get the titles and artwork online if need be.

Thanks again for trying to answer my ?. I used to love winamp, but I do think this is a much better program all around and I'm sure one way or the other, we'll get this resolved.

Hi,
When I scanned drive for files, it found the cds I loaded, but shows only track # with no other information. Sure this is just a setting, but after several hours, still can't find solution. On previous systems, prewin10, had no problems, on scans it always found files and listed them with exact folders I had them in with titles and showed them perfectly. Not sure if this is a win10 issue or a setting in music bee. Also in past when installed music bee it made itself my default media player. It didn't do that this time, is there a setting for that as well?
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to help me sort this out, cause the default program that comes with win10 is awful.
