Questions / Re: No log in to last.fm ?
« on: March 29, 2024, 05:24:57 PM »
delete the MB file that contains your credentials.
If someone can't find it, that would be:
Code
%appdata%\MusicBee\LastFmConnect.dat

Questions / Re: Ignore Diacritic Marks
« on: June 23, 2020, 12:09:18 AM »
I'm searching for titles that include å but not a, does automatic mean I can't do this anymore?

Edit: Creating a filtered auto playlist for this search (Title includes å and Title does not include a) does work for me. I thought there was a quicker way like a command that I can type in the search bar.

Questions / Ignore Diacritic Marks

I can't find the setting to disable ignoring diacritic marks anymore. It used to be under Preferences -> Tags (2), right? Did it get renamed or removed?

Plugins / Re: Chiptune/ tracker module support
« on: March 01, 2020, 05:09:35 PM »
I have tried to import a collection of .SID files and various tracker files (.MOD, .XM, .S3M, .SC68), all in all about 58000 files (1 GB), mainly the High Voltage SID Collection. The rescanning of my music library folders, now including the new files, caused the importer to freeze (every time at 75806 of 95736 files scanned, 32480 new files added) and once I even got a System.OutOfMemoryException error in the log. The problem could be either the amount of files, or the basszxtune.dll not recognising a specific format (I found that .SC68 files are not imported), or a specific file in one of the folders, I don't know. I only know that without the chiptune/tracker folders the scan runs through without any problem. I have cancelled the process because nothing moved for an hour. Cancelling lead to another error message: A background process could not be closed. I restarted MusicBee as recommended and tried to scan my music folder again. This didn't improve anything, I couldn't import all of the tunes.

Now for the files that were actually imported: Playable were .MOD, .XM and .S3M files and scrobbling to Last.fm works for the files with proper tags and the appropriate duration > 30 seconds.
.SID files were imported as well, but they can neither be played nor scrobbled. Trying to play a .SID leads to an error message stating it's either an unsupported format or a broken file, which I can easily falsify: Using Foobar2000 with SID Decoder caused no problem at all and the Audioscrobbler did scrobble the .SID tracks properly.

Also this would be perfect for blocking jingles of radio streams from being scrobbled when they have a duration of more than 30 seconds.

I would recommend Readgeek or Goodreads for keeping track of your reading and get recommendations based on your personal taste.

Yeah actually it was going to be more updates for the library statistics. File > Library > Show Library Statisics. Last.fm is great and all but I have a ton of hiccups with accuracy, and so I would love to have a full fledged stats and drill down pie chart style for my MB library which i trust the accuracy much more than last.fm!
That would be very nice. The problem of Last.fm is they have to make sense of data from many sources and users can't have much control for technical reasons. If you have individual stats on your disk, you could have full control and correct tags however you wish, merge, dedupe and clean it for further use.

MusicBee Wishlist / Multiple "Now Playing" Queues
« on: February 24, 2018, 12:52:10 PM »
If you listen to an audio book or podcast, then you take a break, listen to some music and after that you want to resume your book. But the book queue is gone and you have to find the exact position again where you paused the last time. This would be easier with the option to open multiple tabs of "now playing" queues and to restart the playback at the exact position of a book where you left it.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Translated Lyrics

Translation and transcription for all tags would be a nice feature. In fact I'm using a custom tag for transcription of artists and titles, when I got tracks which are tagged in Kyrillic alphabet for example.

Old thread but still a relevant topic.
The problem described in the thread is that sometimes only metadata need to be updated (without the whole audio-file having to be uploaded to the backup-drive).

I'm really interested in your solutions...
I'm using Acronis True Image to create automatic incremental backups (1 full version and then incremental versions containing only the changes since the last version) which saves time & space and gives you the option to go back to a specific backup day. I don't know if it only syncs the changed metadata or the whole changed files, but that's no big deal for me. At least it only needs to copy the changes and does it automatically.

Would be interesting to know how MediaMonkey is able to do the 2 way sync. More effort/programmers or a different approach?

MusicBee Wishlist / Exclude songs from scrobbling by attribute/tag
« on: July 08, 2017, 02:56:04 AM »
We have the option to exclude songs from scrobbling to Last.fm by setting folders on a blacklist and exclude podcasts. If your collection is not sorted by folders or you have more complex criteria, it would be useful to have the option to exclude files by attributes or tags. Exclusion criteria could be anything that is also used in the playist mixer, like rating, length of playtime, genre, custom tags (audiobooks, speech, vocabulary) etc.

Thanks for the reply, then it's probably a problem on my side. The problem still exists after upgrading to v. 3.1.6345. I'll report when I have found something.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Search ss => ß and o => ō
« on: May 29, 2017, 07:21:25 AM »
Thanks, I didn't know that option exists. I think it would be a good idea to add these standardised alternative spellings:

ß = ss
ä = ae
ö = oe
ü = ue

I see why it doesn't get saved instantly to the file, but in earlier versions it worked as it should: I edit the tag, press save and the values are there to see. If I do the same in this version, it is different: If I open the tag editor from the song in playlist, it sets the display back to blank after saving (but it does get saved, you just don't see it in the editor until you open the file again). But if I open the tag editor from the library view, my input gets saved and is displayed instantly, even if the same song is still playing in the playlist. That makes no sense in my opinion.
