Beyond MusicBee / Any tips for workflow when using DJ software?
« on: July 12, 2020, 01:01:15 PM »
Seeing as many of the DJ apps such as Rekordbox, Serato, Denon Engine Prime and Traktor have quite poor library management features, and Musicbee is much more powerful, does anyone have any tips for using Musicbee in their workflows?

Currently all my music is organised in Musicbee, but I also need to use Denon Engine Prime, so i'm particularly interested in this software, but tips for any of the major platforms could be helpful.

Questions I have include:
* How to leverage the extended tagging capabilities of Musicbee when tag support is much more limited in the DJ software. i.e. do you use Musicbee to filter/sort/find tracks and create playlists or crates, and then import into your DJ software?
* How do you get your playlists or collections of music into your DJ software?
* How to maintain a subset of my main music library for DJ use but only use Musicbee for tagging and creating playlists or crates.
* Is is possible to update metadata through Musicbee and reimport into the DJ software in a relatively painless way? Or is this a concept that should be avoided?
* How do you minimise the risk of the DJ software overwriting your metadata if your DJ tracks are part of your main music collection?
* How do you manage multiple genres as most(?) DJ SW does not support this.

Cheers.

Questions / All music in my library has disappeared from view
« on: May 02, 2020, 11:47:04 AM »
Yesterday I launched Musicbee and as it was initialising all the music tracks in my library disappeared. After restarting I still have an empty library pane.
The music files are still on my NAS and can be accessed without issue. Playlists are still listed but are not populated with any tracks, but the Now Playing tab still lists my music and can play tracks without problem.
I'm guessing that something may have corrupted my library file, so I tried renaming the Library.bak and Settings.bak files and replacing the .mbl and .ini files but it didn't help.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what may have happened, and whether there is a way I can retrieve my library?

Cheers.

Bug Reports / DivideByZeroException when switching tabs
« on: April 24, 2018, 08:39:24 PM »
Hi,

MusicBee v3.2.6676.40631

I've been experiencing quite a few errors when switching between pinned tabs. It's not an always issue, but it's happened more than 10 times.
I also just experienced the bug when switching Windows apps back to view musicbee from Chrome, which is a different use case.
The tabs have custom layouts and custom views.

Here are four error messages:

Questions / Files on external drive no longer showing up in library
« on: February 03, 2018, 08:44:46 PM »
Just recently musicbee stopped listing the majority of my music in my library, and only a few locally stored tracks are shown. The majority of my files are stored on a NAS.

The symptoms seem quite similar to this post: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=8452.0
Rescanning the files does change anything, and when I checked a folder in the computer browser, the 'send to music library' option is greyed out.
The NAS drive is definitely accessible.
However, there are several entries in the error log (File->Help->Support) saying: 'Thread was being aborted'. referring to two of my monitored folders.

I also tried the patch from the post I linked above, but it didn't fix the issue.

Any ideas?

Edit: I posted too soon. My music is visible again in my library, so I guess that patch did fix the issue, and it just took a while to index the 17K tracks.

Questions / MusicBee not saving tag changes to files
« on: March 14, 2015, 02:35:40 PM »
I have made a large number of tag changes to my files, but the changes are not saving to the files. I can see my changes in MusicBee, so they have saved to the DB, but inspecting the files in MP3tag or the MB tag inspector shows my custom Style field is empty.
I've tried the Synchronise Tags command, but this also makes no difference.
My music is on a NAS, but i am connected fine, and can play the tracks with MB without problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for forcing the tags to save? I really don't want to lose all the re-tagging work i've done (again).
Cheers

Edit: running v.2.5.5524

Hi,
The release notes for MusicBee 2.5.5469 say there is an:

 - option to preserve the folder/ file structure from your main library

I can't find this option. Am I missing something, or just being blind?

*EDIT*
After syncing my directory structure has been maintained, but i didn't see an option to select this beforehand.

Hi,
i get a sync failure when i try to sync to my HTC one x+

One of my auto-playlists fails to copy, and eventually the whole sync fails.

I can see from the error log that it can't find one file (Bailey-93_Studio_Tape_5-1993.mp3). For some reason, this is the wrong path, although it is correct within my MB library. There are also lots of other issues, but I can't decipher the problems.

I've PM'd you with a link to the error log from my syncing activity.

Cheers
